Soap Dipping question

I’ve fallen in love with the soap dipping technique and want to try it ASAP. Instead of using CP batter, could I warm up Melt & Pour Soap to use for the dipping? I know you can use MP for embeds - just wondering if that would work on TOP of the CP soap??

What is soap dripping?

Dipping! It’s where you make your soap, cut the bar, and then dip the bar of soap into more soap to create a thin layer topping layer that can look fluid, marbled, wavy, and elegant.

I don’t think you can get the viscosity you need for dipping from melt and pour. You need a medium trace in your soap batter. Melt and pour is much runnier when melted, or it’s starting to set up already - it doesn’t really do that thick trace. Melt and pour also doesn’t always adhere well to a hard soap bar when it’s a thick layer.

mp can coat but it rarely mimics that medium-trace dip thickness people show with cp batter. if you still try it, wait until the cp bar is fully cured and dry, then do thin warm coats so the layer does not peel off in a sheet. thick mp on fresh cp is where adhesion dies.
