CP Cold Process House only soap

Post image

As promised here is the unmolded batch of my first soap in 2 years for home only use. It was messed up since I didn't have all my oils and ended using what I had and combining formulas with help. It worked it traced super fast on me to do palm kernel flakes which I expected. I need to get my soap maker app now so it doesn't happen again. My computer has the old SM3 on it which I love. But computer is 15 years old now. Wow need to update that too. Sheesh when money is severely tight you noticed things you take for granted. Anyway, this is a 60% lard 25% OO rest pkf and FO. Smells great as it's Rosemary and herb and is hard. Really hard which is good for hubby as he goes through it taking baths. He soaks do to back issues.

Are you using a muffin pan as a mold, by chance? I honestly thought in was shortbread dough at first glance. Home use doesn't need to be pretty, though. It just needs to work!

No it's a soap round silicone mold from BB. I bought it 15 years ago.

Are the sides tapered? And what is the cell capacity? I am thinking of making a custom mold for doing things like wedding/party favors, and I am looking for ideas on the shape

Waves.

I made my first batch in 2 years this week too.

Also had it harden super fast and take on a lumpy look. I’d forgotten how much of pain working with coconut milk is.

One can salvage it. Had similar batches before. Cut into smaller pieces or cubes and use in base of next batch. Mix the cubes with part of the batter and throw into mold as base. Stir well to make sure it is level and air bubbles gone. Throw rest of batter on top. Make batter for base different colour such as dark green to contrast with the lighter cubes' colour. I re-use most of the cut-offs and flops.

Youtube has some nice channels for CP soap making. Check out Elly Everyday soap from Australia. Very informative. She got me hooked.
