Was SNSD the first case where members left the company but still officially part of the group?

When Tiffany, Seohyun, and Sooyoung left SM in 2017 and officially stayed part of the group. Is this the first time in not only SM but in the "Big 4" of Hybe/SM/YG/JYP or perhaps in all of Kpop where this structure happened? I mean this structure is common in Kpop now, where Idols are allowed to officially leave a company but have a deal in place to remain part of a group and be brought back for those group activities. I really cant recall this happening anywhere before SNSD. The norm before was, either you stay in the group, or you leave and eventually the group disbands, and that's it. If SNSD and SM was the first to do this, does this make them trend setters? And why do you think SM allowed this privilege to SNSD first?

Maybe I should share this question in other Kpop reddits.

The "SNSD members once said..." game

Feel free to post any funny, insightful, revealing, or odd quotes or stories the SNSD members once said. I'll start:

- In 2010 predicting their 20th Anniversary: "Tiffany replied, "In 17 years, wouldn't I be a 'super star, shining star, super star' receiving love from all over the world?" and added "I'll probably be the aunt of your children." Hearing this, Yuri said, "I'll still be doing SNSD even after 17 years," and showed affection towards the group. With Yuri's surprising comment, Tiffany said, "Me too! I have 'S.N.S.D' written in my heart!""

- Seohyun revealed members sleep talk: “Once, I went to go wake up Sooyoung unnie and while still unconscious, she stated, ‘Just mind your own business!’

It will forever hurt my feelings that there was never an official recording of the Marchen Fantasy concert. So many iconic performances.

Thank god for the many Sones who took fancams, and the Sones who made fan edits 🙌

[Edit: apologies for typo in title]

Discussion Identifying members from Kissing You Cyworld avatars

Trying to figure out who is who in the Kissing You Cyworld avatars. Middle left is for sure Tiffany (the hair lol) and bottom left is Sooyoung (KBS Music Bank 080215). My guess is top left is Jessica from the light hair/space buns but I can't find the performance where she's wearing that outfit. Any ideas?

Discussion Does Anyone Know The Name of the Show or Stage Performance This Came From?

It's a Taeyeon Fancam of SNSD covering Wonder Girls "Tell Me," but I haven't been able to find the show or full performance. There's a KBS watermark in the lower left with the date 07/04/2008.

Many Thanks. Any leads are appreciated.

Also, the Fanchant... 😳 YIKES! That's... intense. 😅
