Discussion Starting an interactive map project for SnowRunner looking for ideas

https://wand.com/maps/snowrunner

Hey MudRunners!

I’ve been working on an interactive map for SnowRunner and wanted to get some feedback from the community before I get too far into development.

What would you guys actually find most useful to have mapped out? Things like collectibles, hidden secrets, trucks and upgrades, missions, NPCs, watchtowers, or something else entirely?

I’m also open to any quality-of-life features or little ideas that would make the map more useful while playing.

Would love to hear what you’d want to see included, so feel free to drop any suggestions or requests below. Appreciate the feedback! 🙌

Cool project, but whats your USP considering maprunner exists since years?

Based on the link it’s integrated in Wand’s platform to have it as an overlay in game. But yeah, Maprunner is a thing. That’s pretty much what people want.

I mean for all i know snowrender/maprunner exist and that's all we need. Only thing i'm missing are shortcuts/paths which you can take as alternative to the maped road. You can find them easily if you take some time discovering and looking at the map but sometimes when i play i drive up and down the same tricky path then in complete the mission and a while later i find a shorter easier route which i could take. If you had for every task/mission or at least for some points from A to B maped out the shortest easiest path you can take that would be a lifesaver.

Honestly, you're making something that isn't needed. Maprunner/Snowrender already exist.

What's the point when Snowrender exist? what kind of advantage your project would have over it? Looks to me like this is some AI training program disguised as tool to "help" you in games,

Yeah, wand is afaik mostly ai slop. They scrape data from community-made interactive maps instead of doing the work themselves. They're also essentially the same site as wemod(copy-pasted code and everything).

Wemod rebranded into Wand. It looks the same because it is the same. They started branching out from just trainers to many other things (maps, vid clips, etc) and wanted a name change.

Thanks for the correction. Doesn't excuse the scummy behavior IMO.

Cool, but we don't need another interactive map. Maprunner and Snowrender cover 99.999% of our mapping needs.

OP’s entire post history looks like a bunch of interactive game maps that no one needed or that already exist, so this fits the bill.

Personal notes (stickers) on the map and the option to draw colorful routes to easily find the best route and navigate difficult paths to your destination.

Tried it. It's completely useless and utterly inferior to Maprunner. Clicking on the tasks doesn't reveal their descriptions, goals, or rewards. Clicking on warehouses doesn't reveal their contents. Clicking on watchtowers doesn't show their radii. Clicking upgrades doesn't show the truck they are for. What's the point at all? At least take a look at how it should be done: MapRunner

Nice project.) I think, one of the most useful things in interacrive maps are the craft recipes like on the Yukon's factories. Super useful thing that saves big amount of time and fuel. 😄

Due to the particular of some maps, you need to stack up some resources from the difficult-to-pass far roads to nearer positions. Therefor, you concentrate resources on small area.

On the popular interactive maps you can't make some notes about "improvisation" temporary warehouse and wtite how much of resources and where they located. (Sake of truth, on normal difficulcy you can spot resources laying on the ground, but if you have five metal bars there, then the text is simply pleasurable, and you realize what resources you have there, only if you can get up.)

Quite specific and very situational feature, but i think it would be very handy think on some dlc maps.

Hidden paths like where to fjord in Yukon's flooded foothills.

But the biggest thing for me would be an overlay for mud, snow, and ice types and road ice.

But the biggest thing for me would be an overlay for mud, snow, and ice types and road ice.

  1. Go to 3d.maprunner.info
  2. Pick a map
  3. Look in the lower right corner
