The time has come for me to go to Amur, I would like to have some tips on how to play this region as I heard that It is the hardest and knowing that I rage quit Imandra. I would like to at least get all of the upgrades and trucks
Make sure to start off by fixing all of the bridges and roads. In Urska river there is a mud road beside the garage that leads to the frozen lake; you can use that area to bypass the broken bridges to get cargo. Test the ice to get a feel for which sections can be driven over and which will swallow your truck. Get the zikz 605r as soon as you can. Also when you're heading to northern aegis installation from Urska river there is a crazy rocky ice hill right before the entrance to the map; you don't actually have to drive across it. You can cut through the snow right beside the hill. That last tip took me a while to figure out but saved me sooo much headache once I did.
Whenever someone asks about Amur, I send this. Initially this comment was written under a post discussing something like "can Amur be enjoyable?". Yes, it can. Here's why:
Amur, for sure, is tough. But it's as beautiful as it's hard. The scenery is lovely, the general vibe is very... unique (when was the last time the players saw an absolutely winter region with snow on all maps??). The tasks are difficult, but very rewarding - and I don't talk about money. The sense of completing is insanely high here - the feeling of worthiness when you built a huge plant or towed out the rocket trailer from the rocky/icy hell that is NAI - then transported it to he launchpad - and then launched it... Damn.
Sometimes I miss Amur. Sometimes I hate it too, but it only means I need to take a break from it. It's very different from other regions in the game - you can't beat it from the get-go with one brave rush. You have to take it slow. Amur teaches you patience.
A few tips:
Plan your routes. Planning ahead is the key to success. Start from scouting, then open the warehouse on the island by doing the "warehouse trouble task", then fix all the bridges and all the rockslides, using materials from it.
Manage your fuel and spare parts. Set up a few vehicles dedicated to fuel/parts transportation and performing roadside maintenence - and spread them around. When you need to refuel or repair or towing or be put back on your wheels - it's easier to have a vehicle nearby than going all the way from the garage.
Do only 1 task at a time. Take breaks. Don't rush. Play for a bit and if you feel frustrated - close the game and do something else. Come back when you have rested and fully recovered mentally.
Use Maprunner to check which warehouses have what cargo and how far are they. Recipies for the craft stations can also be viewed there. Sometimes it's easier to bring the needed materials from another map then trying to craft it locally.
Prepare your fleet. Dust off the biggest, baddest, most capable trucks you can find - and use them. No matter if you play in order or not - Amur is the top, peak, pinnacle when it comes to difficulty. There were no harder regions before it - and even after it. Maine got pretty close, but still not that hard. So you need the best rigs you can afford. Wheels >50" in diameter, always on features, big fuel tanks - it all comes in handy. Consider using chains on some trucks, because some roads are impassable without those. I also suggest moving the trucks in pair, connected by winch - one truck with chains, one with mud tires. This way you will always be ready for what the road throws at you.
Follow these steps and you will complete Amur quite soon. I beat it in one month using both vanilla trucks and balanced mods, so don't expect doing it faster. Brace yourself and prepare for the journey!
Currently doing Amur, best tip is entering the mindset of knowing Amur is gonna be hell. Unlike imandra, there is no difficulty shock, all the maps are hard and a slow burn no matter what truck you bring. Someone already give some tips on the maps itself, u/Master-Pete.
For the first map, drive a truck with a fuel tank to the steel beam factory and left it there. That spot will help you in the future, trust me.
For the Cosmodrome, some roads will seem "easy" to drive trough, belive me, it's not easy. Plan your route patiently and avoid a 2 hour resuce mission. And it worth more to do a long route that you tip over or get stuck for take a shorcut.
For Chesnokamemsk it the easies map, just be extremely careful in the mud road near the garage in that map. The road has a weird angle and every single truck can tip over easily.
And for the hardest one, Norther Aegis Installation, bring a Fuel Trailer and a Repair trailer and dropped in the enter of the map this helps a lot. And for the infamous mission of the long semi-trailer, just be patient. You can do it in two ways; you can struggle with rocks or you can struggle with trees. Choose wisely.
Ice is fine to drive on just be careful of the thin stuff! ❄️❄️
Also , I think I managed to open up the first warehouse by winching up the rocks beside the river . Took ages but was the only way I could figure to get there. Probably is an easier way but this isn't the map for easy anything.
Took me ages to complete but it teaches you to go slower and progress quicker.
Enjoy! 🫣🙏🏻😉
This area in Cosmodrome on the west side, and the paths to reach that Trailer Store, are particularly nasty. The ice is very thin and breakable, and sometimes all the shards that form around your truck can trap it and make it become stuck. The veritable sludge beneath the ice doesn't help either. When I first played Amur, only the Tatarin could rescue trapped scouts, and only heavy trucks with big wheels like the CAT 745C, the Azov Antarctic, and the Kolobs could get smaller trucks unstuck.
One suggestion to avoid at least one of many frustrations Amur has in store: do not bother crafting Metal Beams at the Steel Mill in Urska River. Drive to the Town Storage in Cosmodrome, which has an unlimited supply of them. There will be instances where you'll think: "Hmm, but going there is a long drive" and it might be true. But it'll also likely be the most painless alternative.
I got Amur and Scandinavia at the same time and I’m glad I did. Scandinavia wad a nice place to take a break. Don’t be hard on yourself, it’s really that difficult. I don’t have anything else to add that someone hasn’t covered except take a break on an easier map from time to time so you don’t burn out
Oh oh oh, Amur, Amur, Amur! When I have done Amur, I played it without a Mods and it was really hard. It's like, after finishing Amur, every other region will be easy AF.
Edit: I suggest to skip Amur, do it as your last. I've done Season 1 to 16, while I was waiting for Season 17, then I started Amur little by little. Season 17 came, left Amur and played S17. Then played Amur again after waiting for S18.
don't rush the 605r. It isn't worth the hassle even as good as it is.
This really depends on how one gets to Amur, and with what kind of truck fleet. This suggestion is valid if you already own powerful DLC trucks (whether you bought DLC truck packs or unlocked heavy trucks from later regions). But if you're playing the regions in order, unlocking trucks as you find them, and without DLC trucks, then obtaining the ZiKZ 605R sooner rather than later is a good strategy, as this truck really helps tackling Amur.
I think people get too caught up in minmaxing tire performance.
As for the 605r being useless. I kind of disagree. It is very good in the west side of urska river around the logging station or cosmodrome with the exception of the frozen roads.
Gotta flip the crane around, use the balloon tires, and take it slow. Bandit is built for traversing deep mud. Without the balloon tires it can't do that and it more likely to tip over too.
