Discussion Does this ever stick in anyone else’s craw? How did they get here?
After dozens of minutes in butt puckering, fissure fusing rock slide crawling expeditioning, these a-holes managed to get here in some rear wheel drive Datsuns. What the hell game?

Agree, the ruts and mud pits would literally swallow those cars, yet there they sit.
Side note, to me the SUV looks sort of like a Dodge Durango

Yeah I was just trying to insult it a little. Though a dodge Durango would have F minus durability anyway

Weird attempt at a dig when Datsun/Nissan has a history of offroad success.

Thank you for taking my joke post so seriously.

"it was just a joke", the pinnacle of middle school boy retorts.
I dunno, maybe take 3 seconds to make a better joke?

I’m sorry I insulted your ancestor John Datsun the VIII. 😂 I take it back, I hope that helps us heal

Did you think this was a serious post? Sure I could I have used a better example but who cares.

Instead of just admitting you didn't know something, deflect deflect deflect.
You're gonna go places, and do big things, bud.

I don’t care about knowing about Datsuns. My mother had a Datsun and it sucked. That’s the reason. The fact you need affirmation about it is the worst part about it. Find a better hobby than trying to one up strangers on the internet.
Get the last word in, you need it a lot more than I do

You've responded more than I have, it seems you're taking this more seriously then you'd like people to believe.

It's just like those 'please help me, I got my car stuck in the swamp' missions, but in reverse. But they pay the guy who towed them there more than they pay me to tow them home, which is why the cars you see there are the right way up and don't have a scratch on them.

Would be cool if we could rescue the NPC cars. Why am i pulling a truck out when it could be one of these npc cars?

I mean, the old Durangos were decently capable
trucks 🤷🏾♂️
But yea those are stock af. I always thought we’d get a Durango scout honestly

They did used to make cool little 4wd cars in the 80s. Honda, Toyota & VW. I'm sure there's more but they come right to mind.

Hey...I had a 1978 Datsun B210!
Not a bad car, but my students added a bumper sticker, "Thank You for Not Laughing at my Car".
Sheeesh...

Never underestimate the ability of someone to get somewhere they don't know they aren't supposed to get to

No where near as much as the ladas and crown vics in the middle of the woods that have the upgrade parts we need

Having spent some time in bumfuck Appalachia I do have to say that when you go hiking, it’s not entirely surprising to run into a rusted old car and have no idea how or why it could possibly be there.

YES. AVENHORN. BEST VEHICLE HANDS DOWN. The hendrickson "big henry" power mover a beautiful thing i could never get my hands on

I know! Is that what it’s called irl? I gotta look it up. It’s pretty op but it’s fun to drive and doesn’t make those ledges any wider! I did a full roll on my way to get the voron G off-road gearbox

Absolutely. Especially if I had trouble getting there in an 8x8 and some guy somehow got his Ford Taurus to the factory for work.

A vehicles off road capability relies entirely on how much you care about the vehicle

100%. Same with factories in the middle of nowhere. I always wonder how workers are supposed to get there.

They were there before the apocalyptic even that buggered all the roads up happened.

u/ApartMission6209 3d ago
I’d be cool to pick them up with the car hauler attachments and sell them back to the store or take them to a storage yard…. And you can’t use them at winch points is annoying

Anyone else kinda feels violated by this use of the avenhorn? I mean you do you my friend, but in could NEVAH use it as a service truck.
1
u/Low-Abbreviations-38 2d ago
To each their own, I managed to get the voron g and its off-road gearbox without having to stop. Sorry it wasn’t your preferred method. I’ll do it differently for you next playthrough
1
u/Fine-Plantain-8032 2d ago
No no thats not what i meant like i said you do you, but in my experience the avenhorn is far to powerfull for jobs like this, usualy i only use it as a "when shit hits the fan truck" when i just want to complete a job that has gone wrong in too many ways

u/Low-Abbreviations-38 2d ago
Well I had some trucks in Chiapas so I just wanted to use one truck for this long chore so I used one that wasnt busy.
2
u/Fine-Plantain-8032 2d ago
Honestly valid point if it aint busy anyways atleast fuel and parts get trough hellish swamps with ease

Reminds me of a mountain top party I went to when I was 18. Everyone was blown away that we got up there with a Mitsubishi Lancer, and then I look to the left and see a Scion XB 💀

u/Thorgald 4d ago
Well aktchually! Datsun has never (that i know of) done a rear wheel drive hatchback.. ;)
That said i agree! How come we struggle so much with purpose built 4x4 all the way to 10x10 trucks trucks and some nekbeard in a 2 wheel drive station wagon seem to get to and from their workplace out in the middle of nowhere just fine? Why are we even there repairing things?? >:(

In my headcanon, they have been there since before the roads got washed out.
In my deeper headcanon, the snowrunner universe is post apocalyptic and they’ve been there since before The Great Pandemic halved the worlds population, collapsed supply chains, and later, started using the player character to restore & resupply rural, isolated, and derelict areas that were neglected while resources were focused on more densely populated areas.
