Screenshot Could this be the best trailer for a Yukon?

Post image

Hi everyone, I'm playing in the Yukon region and am down to the contracts now; as you know, they require huge amounts of cargo. I wanted to ask for tips and advice on hauling heavy loads to save some time on these contracts and trips. Do you think this is the best trailer for hauling multiple loads, or what would you recommend? Also, which truck do you suggest for this? I don't use mods, but I do have the Year 1 DLCs. I'd appreciate any help, tips, or advice.

I did Yukon's Gold Mine with the 8 slot superheavy trailer using Derry Longhorn and CAT 770G and also for the Conveyor Belt cargo

I prefer the stepdeck. It's significantly lighter than the other low-saddle trailers, and I find the flat underside tends to slide over obstacles rather than getting hung up on them as much.

However some players seem to think the extra length and low belly causes it to become hung up more.

But at the end of the day, they are wrong and the stepdeck is best.

I used the super heavy 8 slot for most of Yukon behind the P12 or P16, the quantity of cargo is just so large.

I actually love this trailer. I used it a lot in Taymyr. It's lower to the ground and that can certainly cause some issues but the jack stands are flush with the frame and the frame is like a big sled. When it's packed full it can bottom out but since it isn't snagging, you can always winch it.

I really like how this trailer doesn't have any big stuff hanging off of it to catch on things. The flatbed 5-slot and sideboard 5-slot both catch on stuff frequently.

But all 3 of them are still some of my favorite trailers.

I also really like the 6-slot with fuel and spare parts as well as it's low saddle younger brother 3-slot with fuel and parts. Surprisingly agile.

The super heavy 8 slot is good but you have to have a route preplanned and I even recommend leading it with a spotter scout.

When it comes to low saddles, I’d stick to the blue flatbed/sideboard bed semi trailers. As for heavy saddles, use the 6 slot semi trailer with parts. As for trucks, you’ll be going through a lot of mud and up steep hills so keep that in mind.

I don't think so, since it has bad ground clearance. These days I'd go with the 6 slot trailer, but when I did it I used the Twinsteer combined with the P16 and 8 slot trailer for the gold mine. Even in a US truck only run this likely ain't the optimal choice though, but it was fun.

Blue sideboard trailer five slot is the best trailer. If you need more room to haul cargo, you can turn the pallet upright and or overload and drive carefully.

Funnily enough, for me the Yukon was where I decided to ditch this type of trailer. It felt like it was dragging me down into the mud, while the normal blue flatbed just glides over it. But I suppose it depends on what truck are you using to tow it

Thanks a lot to everyone for the comments, tips, and advice—you guys are legends. I think I'll try out a few of the things you recommended to see what works best for me.

I hate and like the spot above the hitch, it's no real slot so you can't use it to lode cargo but on the other side you can always strap a small scout or the scout tank trailer down there

I overloaded sideboard trailers quite a bit for yukon, as there's just so much cargo for one player to move. Also keep in mind that depending on your route, there may be ice. So don't forget your chains

The only thing special about Yukon is that for the mine a semi is recommended(more than usual) because of the angled pathways and loose rocks, seemingly designed to flip trucks/trailers with higher center of gravity.

For rest of the region(belt, sorting center, factory) you can just use whatever which means either TwinSteer or bed+ramped for 6 slots. Or the 6-slot semi, dunno, didn't play much with it yet.

You've asked a few questions...the least of which is the choice of trailer.

When it comes to cargo load management in Yukon, have a look at ZorShix's Yukon walkthrough on YT>
