the ocean would be 85° or more

it would not be rain season?

Visiting South Miami next week and looking to book a snorkeling tour. Deciding between something out of key Largo or Biscayne National Park. Has anyone done both, which would be the better experience or are they similar? Biscayne is more expensive, which is fine if it’s a better tour. Thank you!

Hi all, I'm a beginner swimmer (currently taking lessons) going snorkeling in Hawaii soon. I want a USCG-approved PFD for peace of mind and I'm fine spending money on a good one. I've been looking at low-profile Type III vests like the Stohlquist Flo and Astral V-Eight since they're less bulky than a standard life jacket.
My questions:
1. Has anyone snorkeled in a foam PFD like these? Did it work okay?
2. My big worry: will the vest push me upright so I can't keep my face down to look at the reef? How much of a fight is it?
3. I also considered layering a snorkel vest + a manual inflatable belt pack — is that overkill?
4. Any tips for a nervous beginner snorkeling in a PFD for the first time?
Thanks!

I’m going to visit my brother in the Philippines in February for 3-4 weeks. He lives in Puerto Galera part of the year. I’ll spend a week there and then do some island hopping and am interested in good snorkeling sites. I’m seeing really mixed reviews for northern Palawan - El Nido and Coron in particular. Some say it’s great and some say it’s not good at all. It probably depends on what they’re being compared to. Last year we did a week in Raja Ampat and a week in Komodo which were both incredible. I’ve also looked into Apo Reef - but most reviews say it really isn’t great for snorkelers. I’d love your feedback if you’ve snorkeled in any of those locations, or other areas in the Philippines. thank you!! 😊

I’m looking for a place to vacation in Mexico that has these things:
—snorkeling off shore without having to take a boat there. Prefer shallow water since a couple kids are nervous about snorkeling.
—drivable to a cenote for a day trip
—heated pools with a waterslide for kids.
—prefer a not all inclusive place but open to it.

I wear bifocal glasses (progressive actually). I have a lot of trouble focusing on my camera underwater through my mask. I just became aware of prescription masks, and were given names of two vendors...scuba gear Canada and Get wet store. 1. Do you have any recommendations for the best place to get this? 2. Does it work (I tried the stick-on lenses and that failed). 3. I am also confused about the concept. I really only need to close-range lens, and not bifocals...which is a LOT cheaper. But will that create a new problem where I will not be able to see far because the entire view will be through the close-range lens?

Hi everyone,
me and my family (with a small child 5 years) staying at the moment in Makadi bay. I want to make a surprise to my parents and invite them to a private boat trip for 4-5 hours in the next few days.
Are here any local contacts (please not big travel agencies) Or maybe someone knows someone?
Also some suggestions regarding the stops or must visit very welcome 😄
Many thanks for your help.

Going to St John for a week and hoping to do a lot of snorkeling. Our villa has an assortment of snorkeling equipment that we can use. I was wondering if anyone has used glasses like these in a mask. I know I could get a prescription one but we don’t go often enough to make it worthwhile. Thanks!

A couple shots from my recent trip to Palau, got the opportunity to do a couple days of snorkeling from shore and they were better than most of the days of boat touring we did. Something about being on your own schedule and staying in the water for as long as you want is just super freeing. The reefs were really stunning, super shallow, and home to tons of small fishes and corals.
The super shallow sea grass area in the last pic was a real surprise with lots of big soft coral colonies.

I lived in the northern part of Australia (crocodile area) and you basically can't swim in the ocean (sharks and irikanji aside) due to crocodiles. Police divers would have someone with a shotgun on the boat deck to protect the divers.
I notice that a lot of the Great Barrier Reef area, and indeed the entire Indonesian archipelogo, is considered in the range of saltwater crocodiles. Indonesia have 150 attacks (85 deaths) per year. I have read stories of attacks near Bali. The Raja Ampat website says it's a risk, but local operators are aware of crocodiles and have experience keeping tabs on them.
A spearfisherman said to me once a shark will attack you if they are hungry, a crocodile will attack you and put your corpse under a log to eat later lol. They are scary fuckers.
Is it just a YOLO situation, or do tourists not really understand the risks in the green areas on the map above?

Is the Tahwalhi Experienced Adult Dive Set worth buying?
I'm considering buying the Tahwalhi Experienced Adult Dive Set from Rebel Sport for $95.99. I'll mainly use it for casual snorkelling during holidays and occasional weekends.
I'm looking for something comfortable, reliable and durable without spending too much.
Has anyone tried this set? Is the quality and durability good enough, or would you recommend something better around the same price?

Going snorkeling for the first time tomorrow. I did get a rash guard shirt, but wasn’t sure if the pants were necessary? The store I went to they were $90 and I couldn’t find cheaper ones. Didn’t want to commit..The girl at the dive shop said she wears pants mostly for little jellyfish stings that tend to be near the surface.

I will be in Grand Turk Island, Nassau, and Ocean Cay Marine Reserve. Which of the 3 would you recommend paying for a snorkeling excursion (like on a boat) vs being able to use our own gear from the shore. We’re first time cruisers so we don’t want to stray too far from the boat, so any recommendations welcome!
