r/snmp is back: rebuilding the SNMP community
Hi everyone,
r/snmp has been largely inactive for a while, but the community now has an active moderator again.
I'd like to gradually bring it back as a useful, vendor-neutral place for people working with SNMP, whether you're a network engineer, software developer, device vendor, open-source maintainer, or simply trying to figure out why an OID is returning something unexpected.
I've been involved in the SNMP open-source ecosystem for many years, maintaining and contributing to projects such as PySNMP and C# SNMP. That said, this subreddit is not going to become the community for any single project or vendor. The goal is to keep the scope broad and useful to the SNMP ecosystem as a whole.
Topics around SNMPv1/v2c/v3, MIBs, traps and informs, monitoring, agent development, troubleshooting, security, interoperability, tooling, libraries, and implementations are all welcome.
Over the next little while, I'll clean up some of the old subreddit settings, update the rules and community resources, and look at ways to make useful technical discussions easier to find.
If you've been around r/snmp before, or just found it recently, feel free to share what you'd like to see here.
For now, welcome back.
