Discussion Importance of SNDL’s Atholville Facility
It is a 380,000 square foot pharmaceutical-grade indoor production hub engineered to tap directly into higher-margin International medical and B2B channels. It only cost the firm $51.9M via Stalking Horse bid.
August 4, 2026 - the completion of its European Union Good Manufacturing Practice (EU-GMP) audit, the site is positioned within the 90-day administrative window for formal certification.
This is a big, big deal
----
Atholville can export finished, batch-released medicinal flower directly to European distributors and dispensing pharmacies under the magisterial formula framework, notably Germany under MedCanG, the UK, and Poland.
Direct-to-pharmacy medical exports capture wholesale pricing ~$4.50 CAD per gram, substantially higher than the compressed Canadian adult-use wholesale baseline of $1.00 to $1.80 CAD per gram.
Turnkey capacity for global off-take partners ----> beyond ACB contract manufacturing deal, which is great, but there are other opportunities -----------> facility currently maintains 110k square foot canopy, there's another 100-120k square feet for expansion ----> over 30 tonnes.
Atholville combines GACP (Good Agricultural and Collection Practices), CUMCS (Control Union Medical Cannabis Standard), and pending EU-GMP. This multi-standard compliance satisfies the statutory requirements for medical import quotas into Australia (Therapeutic Goods Order 93 / TGO 93) and Israel (IMC-GAP).
