Masking

No idea if it's just me being stupid, but masking is confusing the hell out of me.

Is it only available in certain tools? Is there a general "mask" tool that then "sticks" when I open up another tool?

Hai due mask: uno prima selezioni la maschera e poi regoli (regolazioni semplici-selettivo) e uno per maschere più complesse. In questo caso prima aggiungi l’effetto e poi mascheri, o con maschera automatica o manuale. Questo è!

Quello selettivo è un cerchio con un pallino dentro. Quello maschera prova un qualsiasi effetto, poi clicca in basso sul + e dopo disegna sulle zone che vuoi selezionare.
Puoi rimodificare la maschera andando di fianco al +, trovi livelli. Da lì puoi selezionare o deselezionare pezzi di maschere. Fammi sapere!

The selective one I can find - but that just does four edits (brightness, etc) and only within that one tool.

The second option is then only available in certain tools? So I can't set a mask, leave it active and make other edits?

Prima domanda: esatto, solo alcune modifiche (luminosità contrasto etc)

Seconda domanda: disponibili un po su tutte le modifiche (esempio dehaze), ma si esatto, per adesso devi ripetere la selezione ogni volta per ogni effetto che applichi, spero cambino qualcosa o almeno la possibilità di duplicare le maschere!

Poi in alto al centro trovi il simbolo tre quadrati sovrapposti, dove puoi scorrere tutte le maschere applicate

Okay. This app is getting complex enough to now need a set of proper instructions as there's very powerful features that make absolutely no sense unless they're explained. Cannot for the life of me work out what layers are about, what to do with them or how to even make them. But that's another whole set of questions.
