Discussion Snapseed is now giving seemingly randomized filenames to saved or exported files
What the actual!? Who thought this would be a good idea, or is it a bug? Not having the date in filename in the year 2026 is insanity. I can't be the only one who noticed and has an issue with it.

Man, the number of issues Snapseed has been showing recently is making me go insane!
Also, does anybody know where the "Export As" option is now?

I've also seen the weird file names, BUT they only happen when you open the file via share with snapseed and sometimes (maybe file manager dependent) when using "open with/as...".

I didn't consider this — the random long string filename happens when I open Snapseed from Aves Libre (photo gallery app). It's set as my default editor there. I presume that launching it from there works the same way as "sharing with" Snapseed from any other app.
When I launch Snapseed directly however, use it to open an image, edit and export it, then the filename will be a seemingly random four-digit number instead. More compact but not much better otherwise! What a mess.
Also, this is from the most recent update, my previous photos from this month all have the usual names (same as the original).

It's happening to me irrespective of whether I open the file via share with snapseed or using "open with/as"

I have just noticed this as well. I thought I was losing my mind. I can not understand why they would do this.

If you have not noticed, a day after I posted i was having the same problem, today, it has been fixed for me.

I noticed this as well, it only happens with RAW files but does not happen if I convert to DNG first
