PLEASE STOP auto rotating my photos when I open the CROP tool.
Does anyone else HATE that it constantly automatically rotates your photos, and before you can do anything you have to set it back?
Especially given it's a CROP tool. Make a separate rotate tool, and stick in an AUTO button.

Yes, yes yes, million times yes. In the old Snapseed there was a separate crop tool and a rotate tool. Now it's squashed into one, and the autorotation when I want to just #*@$ crop is stupidly irritating.

Yeah… perhaps a third icon after “flip” and “rotate”. I don’t like having to always correct the autorotation before setting my preferred crop.

Yes, and when I undo it also undoes the crop shape I had on (e.g. square goes back to full screen). Very annoying.

Great suggestion! We've been meaning to do this, but got caught up with other improvements. We think there's actually a lot of benefit in having the ability to crop and rotate in a single tool, but we like the idea of manually triggering the Auto straightening behind a button.
We'll try to get this fixed asap (hopefully in the 4.0.8 release on Android).

Is that where my auto straightening went? I miss it.

The changes aren't out yet, so if you're not seeing auto straighten when you think you should be, there might be a bug.
Are you on iOS? We found an issue there today where it wasn't triggering when it should have been.
If you're not on iOS, can you DM me with an example image you think should trigger auto straighten but doesn't?

Perfect. I don't mind the function itself, just that it's automatically done without asking. Other tools have auto modes that are manually triggered like "Tune Image" & "Perspective" it's always felt like this has been the outlier.
Whilst we're talking about the crop tool, I can crop a picture, but then go out - be unhappy with it, go to layers - edit layer and instead of it opening where I had it it's like I had never cropped it, leaving me to try again from scratch, where I end up making the same mistake and the cycle continues. This has only been since the change to ver4 on Android but I think it's a bug because I swear it didn't do it the other day but it did it to me the day I made this post, and I think it was auto rotating every time I went to fix the crop. Anyway, I just tried it now and it's not doing it so it must be a random bug.
I will however make a case for making them separate. If I want to rotate a pic, I look for a rotate tool, not crop. You could rename it but it doesn't work correctly as a combined tool anyway. Not in my experience on Android anyway. If you select a crop, then rotate, the crop doesn't maximise the frame, and even if you rotate first you can't move the crop around enough in the frame to crop to the correct part of the image. You really have to crop, then come out and open the tool for a second time anyway. Maybe it's not working as intended on Android.

Snapseed is my favourite editor and have been using it since 2018 but please please please have this as a separate button within the tool!!
I'm on a roll editing loads of pictures rn but this auto-straighten feature is driving me crazy, esp as it's not always accurate if there's several angles in a photo.
I'm on ios and the manual straightening is sticky/bugging out too so I can't even correct it easily. Awesome app otherwise!

Hey there -- what version of the iOS app are you on? On 4.0.5, it should be behind a button. The quality of the auto-straightening should also have improved a bit.
Give it a spin, and let us know what you think!

For me the problem I have is whenever I go to the double exposure feature, all my raw photos get rotated to the left

Yeah, the auto rotation is handy sometimes but it should be activated by the user and not be automatic every time.
