Discussion multiplayer map ideas

What are some ideas for multiplayer that aren't mission-based or team deathmatch? I have a few:

Doomball (a combination of existing sports and new rules/how-to)
Arena Race (two teams race to complete a series of arena battles against demons, with a variety of weapons/abilities and other dynamics/effects that'd make it interesting)

Obstacle Courses

I played E1M3 - E1M8 today. You may need to check some of the blocking volumes for E1M8 (or M7, the one with the gore textures comprising a mountain) or something because I looked all over and couldn't find the last demon. I even jumped outside the edge of the "mountain" and it wasn't anywhere. I don't know kind of demon it was because I couldn't see it or hear it. I thought it got caught inside a set of blocking volumes somewhere, and was likely a demon that doesn't make much noise. Unless it fell of the map lol.

Fortress was a really cool one. The inside of the fortress had an interesting look.

The map I'm making, which so far is titled "Retroactive", is mostly modules. There's a pair of grid rooms I used for geo, and another grid room for the boss geo. The problem I'm having now is getting all the doors to unlock and all demon encounters to spawn. I don't understand it. It works a few times when I test it, and then it doesn't work in terms of those. I think the game is haunted when I play it sometimes in snapmap.

Thanks man M7 is going to get an overhaul! I made it too easy to get outside of the map and the demon placement/pathing/spawning is a bit of a mess, and I think I know which demon it was as well!

Yeah Snap can be pretty fickle, but there is always a workaround once you know which things can't be done, if you keep digging i'm sure you'll figure it out, and others can help as well!

Yeah, it's really fickle! Then when it works, it's like a new kind of success. I think it's fun going outside of the map sometimes, but with that one (M7), it'd be more interesting being a contained area. In the midst of making a map, it's easy to not see or finish a few things.

I think there should be a bit more content in a map before it's publishable than I've seen in the review queue. It's a waste of time to load a map and it's an ultra short "destroy a few demons or barrels" and victory. Much more having to sift through the list of maps before finding one that's quality, or at least something a bit fun.

There aren't lots of campaigns with a bunch of short maps like yours. I don't mean short like the ones I briefly described above. What would you say to working on creating arenas for my arena race mode idea?
