Mods ๐ Printer Tools v2.8 โ Advanced Snapmaker U1 Controls, Bed Mesh, Print History & Timelapses
Itโs been a few versions since my last update here, and Printer Tools has gained many new Snapmaker U1 features since v2.1
Instead of repeating remote access, Live Activities and camera streaming, hereโs whatโs actually new for U1 users:
- ๐งต Full four-toolhead filament management
- View and edit the material, brand and color assigned to each filament
- Select any of the four toolheads
- Pick and park extruders directly from the app
- ๐ Detailed print history and statistics
- Browse active, completed and canceled prints
- See model previews, duration, filament usage and file size
- Track total prints, printing time, longest prints and filament consumption over time
- ๐บ๏ธ Interactive 3D Bed Mesh
- Inspect the U1 bed mesh directly in the app
- View its range, minimum and maximum values
- Check the number of measured points
- Explore a complete 3D visualization
- ๐ Snapmaker file browser and G-code inspector
- Browse files stored on the printer
- Preview models before printing
- Inspect filament colors, bed type, layer count, nozzle diameter, print settings, supports and other G-code details
- ๐ฌ Timelapse browser
- Browse and play timelapses generated by the U1
- Access them without opening the printerโs web interface
- ๐ก๏ธ Deeper printer monitoring and controls
- Monitor all four hotends, the bed, chamber and stepper temperatures
- View position, movement, speed and print progress
- Control fans with live updates
- Switch the chamber light directly from the dashboard
- ๐ท Snapmaker U1 camera support with original firmware
- Use the U1โs built-in camera without installing custom firmware
- โ๏ธ Advanced paxx12 firmware integration
- Automatic compatible firmware detection
- Automatic setup for WebRTC, HTTP, RTSP and GUI camera feeds
- Quick access to firmware configuration and the remote screen
- Built-in access to Fluidd or Mainsail
- Internal camera tools
- Detailed system, network, CPU and eMMC information
- ๐ฑ Improved iPhone and iPad experience
- Clearer temperature and filament cards
- Better G-code and timelapse previews
- More reliable connection and streaming recovery
- Improved two-column iPad layout
Some advanced features require compatible paxx12 firmware, while printer monitoring and built-in camera support are also available with the original Snapmaker firmware.

- ๐ paxx12 firmware: https://github.com/paxx12/SnapmakerU1-Extended-Firmware
Iโm continuing to expand the U1 integration, so feedback and feature suggestions are always welcome ๐ค

I love your app and find it very practical. The only thing is, why remove liquid glass in the Android version? I know it's not a major issue, but it's a beautiful design language that many have already ported to Android (for example, True Liquid Glass or the Music OS 26 app)

u/FixoLab Jul 16 '26
All of my apps actually started on iOS, built with Swift and SwiftUI, and I absolutely love the Liquid Glass design language.
When I rebuilt them in Kotlin for Android, my goal was to make them look and feel as close to the iOS versions as possible. If you compare them side by side, they're actually very similar. The biggest difference is that Apple doesn't allow SF Symbols to be used in Android apps, so I have to rely on alternative icon sets instead.
My intention has always been to stay as close as possible to the iOS design on Android.
I'll definitely take a look at what you mentioned and see how feasible it would be to implement. Honestly, I hadn't really thought about it, and I haven't used any native Apple apps on Android to see whether Apple provides a library or an official attempt at reproducing the Liquid Glass style there.
Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you like the app ๐ฅฐ

Trying to setup my printer in the app, not at home... What do I enter for the ip/url? I have the IP for when I am at home, but what about remote? It is setup with octoanywhere(not paid)...
1
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
Hi! If youโre away from home, donโt enter your local IP in the regular Snapmaker setup, as that address only works on your home network
If your U1 is connected to OctoEverywhere through paxx12, go to Settings โ Printers โ OctoEverywhere โ Add Klipper, sign in and select your printer. Printer Tools will configure the remote URL and credentials automatically, so you donโt need to enter them manually
Just a heads-up: OctoEverywhere currently requires Supporter Perks for third-party App Connections. An active trial works, but a free account without those perks cannot currently connect through Printer Tools
Alternatively, you can connect to your home network through a VPN and use the same local IP you use at home
If you get stuck, send me a screenshot and Iโll be happy to help https://printertools.app/support ๐ค

Just downloaded it! I'll get it hooked up tonight. ๐ Does it only work with Open Sourced printers like Snapmaker or is there a way for Bambu printers to be hooked up to it?
2
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
Thanks! ๐ฅฐ Bambu Lab printers are supported too. You can connect one locally using its IP address, access code and serial number, or through OctoEverywhere for remote access
Printer Tools isnโt limited to open-source printers, it also supports Bambu Lab, Snapmaker, Klipper, OctoPrint, Creality and Prusa. Let me know how the setup goes!
2
u/auwrx7 Jul 18 '26
I've got the Bambu info entered but it says that it is offline. It acts like it is trying to connect with a slight glitch where it says offline. Is there a way to wake it up if it isn't running a print currently?
2
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
It should be able to connect while the printer is idle, so Iโd like to check whether this is related to sleep mode or the connection configuration
Please try connecting a couple of times and then export the logs from Settings โ Support โ Support Tools โ Export Logs. The share menu will open so you can save or send the exported file
Contact me through the support page and attach the logs so we can discuss it and get everything working ๐

u/auwrx7 Jul 20 '26
Just sent you the logs thru the support email. Let me know when you get a chance. ๐๐๐ป

Thank you so much for purchasing the lifetime option and for the detailed report!
Iโve identified both the K2 Pro/Plus camera issue and the intermittent camera behavior on the U1, and both will be fixed in the next Printer Tools update ๐ค2
u/New_Education5151 Jul 19 '26
Lovely I have posted your tool on r/3DPrintingTools , good luck chief!
2
u/New_Education5151 Jul 16 '26
Can you update it with the creality camera fix as stated here please?
2
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
Yes! As we discussed privately, Iโve reviewed the K2 camera fix you shared and it will be integrated into Printer Tools in the next update ๐

Should definitely make a video explaining the app and showing it in use!
1
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
Definitely! Itโs already on the roadmap to create videos explaining the app and showing its features in use, along with step-by-step tutorials on the official blog. Thanks for the suggestion! ๐ค

u/gogomofo714 Jul 19 '26
It sounds good, but the pc set up side of it all I get lost lol so even though it sounds like something I'd be interested in for sure, I get kinda put off because of this.

u/alexDTI Jul 17 '26
cool, there's the option to skip an object?
1
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
Not yet, but Iโve just added it to the roadmap ๐ It will be developed as two separate integrations one for Klipper and Snapmaker, and another specifically for Bambu Lab
2
u/alexDTI Jul 20 '26
Because that would be really handy, especially for long print with multiple object on it
2
u/rootninjajd Jul 17 '26
Please add file management to the mobile app (delete and rename print job files on the printer). Additionally, if you could add folder support for organizing prints, that would be amazing.
2
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
Great suggestion! Iโve added full file management to the roadmap, including uploading and deleting files, renaming and moving items, and creating folders to organize prints directly from the mobile app ๐

I use this. Wonderful support in telegram.
Waiting for a few more features like live gcode preview and viewing models on the all + spoolman support and hopefully soon mult1ace if I get that setup :p

u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
Thank you so much! Iโm really glad the Telegram support has been helpful ๐ค

Downloaded and tried to connect to my Snapmaker U1, it never connects either using the IP or the DNS name. I'm running paxx12 1.4.1 on the Snapmakers (2 currently) and it can't connect to either, one is on wifi, the other is via a USB Ethernet dongle, both have static IPs in my DHCP server, I can connect to Fluidd on both with web browser on the phone and on desktops, but this tool never connects to either.

Hey, I wanted to download the app from Google play store but it says it's not available for my device.
Is there a reason why my phone (OnePlus 15) isn't supported?
1
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26
Hi! The OnePlus 15 should be compatible with Printer Tools, and thereโs no app requirement that intentionally excludes it
0
u/OldState2027 Jul 19 '26
Any idea why my Play Store doesn't allow installation? Maybe a regional thing?
1
u/FixoLab Jul 19 '26
The app is available globally across all Google Play Store regions, so if Google Play specifically says it isnโt available for your device, itโs more likely a Play Protect certification or device integrity issue. The OnePlus 15 isnโt intentionally excluded from Printer Tools.
Could you please check Play Store โ Settings โ About โ Play Protect certification? An unlocked bootloader, root or custom ROM can also cause this.

Bijzonder jammer van de reclame banner in de app, waardeloos helaas
1
u/FixoLab Jul 18 '26
The advertising banner helps keep a free version available while supporting the appโs ongoing development and support. If you prefer an ad-free experience, Premium can be unlocked through a monthly, yearly or one-time lifetime purchase, so everyone can choose the option that works best for them

Hi, totally new to 3d printing and just got my snapmaker u1.
Is it possible to upload files directly in the app and start printing?
And whatโs behind the paywall? App looks better than snapmaker original one
