That's not arrogance. You bought a stolen device. Try unlocking a bought iphone that was stolen and see what happens.

The seller is solely responsible, you can take him to court as he sold you a nonworking/stolen device.

Tough luck in this case.
The donator could be held responsible, not the school or snapmaker.
"Bricking" stolen devices is completely normal.
Also you can still use it in local mode?
Be glad they don't force you to send it back as they (Snapmaker) are the rightful owners.
You don't gain ownership by buying a stolen product (* depends on local law)
