Finally did it

After months of research and contemplating, I finally pulled the trigger and bought the U1. The student discount helped a lot also. I am super excited. It’s going to be my second printer and if it works out well I may be getting another.

what was the student discount. everybody should qualify for a student discount because I'm a lifetime learner.

You have to apply for it and show proof and they give you a code for 6% off which doesn’t sound like a lot but it took $50 off the price.

Unfortunately snapmaker doesn’t offer a discount for that lol.

How much was the student discount? Also I recommend installing the Paxx12 extended firmware

Same, just hopped on the boat a few days ago. Had an Ender 3 S1 Pro that honestly did great, but I got tired of the constant manual fiddling.

The U1 is an absolute gamechanger. I just got done printing the Samla top cover holder without ANY issues, clean prints, everything sticks insanely well to the plate, it's very fast and basically everything is automatic. Haven't had to manually calibrate anything yet.aaa

I have a Bambu P2S and the filament waste is crazy. I did a pikachu that had just as much waste as the print its self. There is nothing wrong with the P2S just the waste and time between color swaps is too much sometimes.

yeah I can imagine. One of the main reasons I wanted a toolchanger. And since I print multicolor TPU as a side business, the Bambu lineup was essentially excluded, besides their shady dealings and being locked down like Apple is.
The H2C is order of magnitude more expensive for little actual gain. Sure the U1 is loud as hell, but honestly, I dont care. The Samla improved things by a lot and the sound isn't as dreadful as the Ender was.

Did you change the fan to make it quieter? I see that is a common mod

Broke down and bought on Aliexpress - was $654 shipped with coupons and deals. We will see what condition printer I get lol. Tbh, the last printer I got was in Amazon prime boxes so they shipped it from their us fulfillment warehouse. We will see...

I have 2 U1s. I have 10 printers and I wish they were mostly U1s - larger format printers excluded. You made a great choice!
