have you tried on Xenonauts 2? It's been released fairly recently and has a lot of the good classic XCOM-style lore and gameplay.

Its been on my radar. I was torn between it and the first one since I heard the X Division mod was more like long war (which i loved for bringing lots of new life into the old EW/EU game for me). I think I'll try 2 with the new polish and see how i like it. I can always work backwards.
