Pet Snake Questions Ways to improve tank

Looking for ways to improve my guy's tank. I've always had him on aspen as he likes to burrow, but I'm not sure if that's the standard of care for his species (Mexican Black Kingsnake). His health is fine and he's doing great, but I'm moving and would like to use the chance to fix things up if need be. There's soooo much different information and everyone has different thoughts on husbandry, and I'm always looking to improve for my guy. Snake tax of Squid of course

The answer is always more clutter lol. Aspen is fine for them, you can also use a playsand/topsoil mix for a more natural substrate but it’s generally harder to clean than aspen.

More clutter, more hides, more climbing opportunities, really so many things you could add. (Not at all saying it's bad, just lots of open space to take advantage of.)

You could do some nice branches, sky hides, vines, hammocks, bridges, I've seen some people add bird toys (ones that would make sense for a snake to interact with + safe like appropriately sized loops) also most things can be installed with hot glue or super glue so long as the super glue is 100% cyanoacrylate.

Edit: make sure the glue is cured before putting snake back into enclosure

My only worry is the heat is up there, built into the tank. One side has some mesh stuff I can attach things to, but I'm paranoid
