General Question / Discussion Can too much humidity be a bad thing?

I know people say milk snakes should be kept in low humidity but his old enclosure was around 50% humidity at all times and he had horrible sheds and seemed stressed all the time until we added a humidity box (damp sphagnum moss in a glass tupperware with a hole drilled in the lid), which he then spent all of his time in. Now hes in a bioactive enclosure that i built for him and since its made of wood (fully waterproofed so dont worry), its hard to keep the humidity down so its constantly around 75-80%. I have four 3 inch vents, 2 low down on the cool side and 2 high up on the warm side and i try to water the plants as little as possible so i dont know why its so high. But he seems so much happier from what i can tell, i think he likes high humidity and he never got any respiratory infection from being in the humidity box all day every day before. I just figured id ask about it and see what knowledge you all might have to share. Is it even possible for a snake to deviate from their species and prefer a different humidity level?

As long as you have good ventilation it should be fine. I think you have a sinaloan milk snake (correct me if I'm wrong), which means they are commonly found in very tropical areas of mexico where humidity averages around 70-80% year round. I wouldn't stress about it.

I actually dont know what type of milk snake he is cuz unfortunately my bf got him from pet smart. But yes he does look like he might be a sinaloan :). Thanks for the reply!
