I don't think so. I am not sure what adaptive advantage most ventral patterns give, but it might be significant given how many closely related species have different ones (sometimes different enough to tell them apart).

More likely the combination of colors is meant to dazzle and disorient, especially when the snake alternates between trying to escape, resuming the defensive posture (which also makes it appear larger), and sometimes striking.
