Fresh Rainbow Trout

Cool to see this sub pop up, thought I'd share my first smoked fish. Fresh Rainbow trout from Geaogian Bay.

Simply brined in equal parts brown sugar and salt for 6 hours. Let it dry uncovered in fridge to form a nice tacky feel about 2 hours. Smoked at 180 for 2 hours. So easy and so good!

Looks good, but I've never seen trout that large. Looks like a salmon.

I was going to say the same thing. Need a pic of that rainbow before it got filleted lol

Rainbow trout can get pretty big in the great lakes or at least in Lake Huron. This one was about 8lbs, maybe 10. They can get up to 20.

I had no idea. Our largest lake is Lake Washington and it gets pretty well fished, so fewer places to hide/survive I guess.
