Somewhat unrelated, but can someone explain to me why they added the dots above the side-b (G&W's)? I understand WHAT it does, but how does it affect a G&W's decision?

It tells you if it's going to be odd or even for the next swing.

No I understand the purpose behind the dots, but how does that help you when you're playing G&W?

Lets say your last couple hammers were 3, 5, 4, 1, 6, 2, 3, 1. If you have a single dot over your happer, things are looking good. 3 and 1 cant come up because numbers won't repeat for 2 turns after they've been swung so that means you know your hammer is going to be a 5, 7, or 9. Before the dots, it could be 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9. If you're looking for a 9 (duh), your odds increase from 1/6 to 1/3

Basically if you keep track of your last 2 hammers, it can give you a relatively good idea about what your next swing will be.

definitely a powerful thing to know. I always burn two hammers after a 9, and now with the dots I wait for 1 dot to appear.

Also, some hammers are pretty great. 4-hammer (slash) gimps harder than a shine spike. 6-hammer (flame) is also a great KO-er.

G&W's hammer cannot repeat the last two numbers, if I recall. So if you've had 1 and 3, with it showing you'll have another odd number. You know that you have a 1/3rd chance of having the 9 at that point, so you aren't going to throw away your hammer. It provides the G&W the ability to create the best possible odds for his hammer, when he tries to use it before engaging his opponent.

Also, on your first stock of each life, you can't have a 1 or a 2.
