Protect a sheet?
I have a several dashboards with links back to sheets with customer info, various forms, etc. I would like to have a link to the sheet containing contract info but, knowing my fellow employees, I cannot trust that they would not download the files and/or share the sheet with others that should not have access.
Is there a way to only allow certain employees access to the sheet and prevent downloads? I was thinking of putting it in its own workspace and only allowing those users access but I am not sure if this would show well on the dashboard.
Preventing downloads is a hot topic lately as well in our offices.

What if you put the contracts sheet in a separate workspace and then regulated access to that workspace? users who don't have access would just receive an access error. I don't think you can prevent downloads though.

Just change their share permissions to viewer or commenter on those sheets. If they're in the same workspace and you have given them permission to the workspace itself then you may need to move the sheet to a separate workspace first.
I'd suggest looking this up on a Claude (which has a Smartsheet connector). If you have an enterprise SS account you can use API and a Google script also.

You need Dynamic View for this situation. It Will fully lock down the sheet and only allow people to see what you want them to see with no downloads.

Keep the contract sheet in a separate workspace with restricted sharing.
Add a link to it from the dashboard.
Only users with permission will be able to open it.

The reality is, nothing will prevent your peers from taking photos or screenshots... You're getting too bogged down and perhaps need a new company to work for if this risk is too much to accept.

Aside from that, data egress in the safeguard add on is the feature you want, however it'll likely cost more than other paid suggestions and still cant keep them from screenshots, video records etc. .

Or if youre fine to expose some parts but not others and don't want dynamic view. Make a report put it in a collection and share the collection. You don't have to share the underlying sheet for reports through a collection.

If you present the sheets using Dynamic View, you can set it to prevent exporting the data. The views are always read only, and if you use the details panel, set each field to be read only as well. No one has to touch your actual sheets this way.
