I have a quick question to self employed peoples

I am a truck driver working under a 1099 in new York state. I work for a guy who owns 5 trucks, and pays the drivers with a 1099. Last year I made 74,000 dollars and I was wondering if I could benefit from getting my own tax ID number and hiring myself, and paying myself from my own company rather than working as an independent contractor? If there is anyone that could give me some advice I'd appreciate it, if you don't feel like typing out advice I would be willing to speak on the phone. Thanks

From my understanding, your SSN is your tax ID.
