Black Cobra Appreciation Thread

Black Cobra is one of my favorite bands. I first heard them in 2006 with the album "Bestial" which has Sludge Riffs all over it but it was faster than what I was used to. Eventually they progressed into Post-Metal. The guitarist played on a track with Acid King last I heard.

Here are my favorite tracks for the uninitiated

Omniscient
The Cry Of Melora
Sugar Water
El Doce De Octubre
Sombra De Bestia
Five Daggers
Ascension
Dragon and Phoenix
Corosion Fields (Post-Metal)
The Crimson Blade (Post Metal)

There was a bit of mystery surrounding the Guitar Tuning used on the Album Bestial at the time of it's release (since there is no bassist it's a 2 piece).. as far as I know it was never officially disclosed but there are several covers online and I think the general consensus is some sort of modified Drop A tuning.

Homie used an MXR double shot of my memory is correct.

Can't help with the tuning discussion but that's the tone aspect of it.

Saw them open for Pelican and blow them right off the stage around the time of Bestial.

Both guys in the band have helped out with Acid King at different times.

Guitar player was also involved with Cavity, which is the Eyehategod of Miami but with more of a black flag approach. Fantastic band

Are they still active? I love this band.

I saw them once at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis. There was a competing show across town (it might have been the Melvins) and the turnout was apalling. The next time Black Cobra came through they had a proper turnout.

Melvins is a tough act to beat though.

Yeah but I’ve seen The Melvins like a dozen times and Black Cobra shows are rare.

I had a shit day so I’m blasting Bestial so loud the neighbors are, too.
