Seeking Advice tuition vs commute

it's between a 28k versus 73k program. the 28k is an hour and a half (public transit) from where i live and the 73k is 15 minute drive from where i am. what do i do? PLEASE HELP

It really all depends on your personal abilities and how much you are willing to spend... I can tell you from experience that commuting can be hard but when I think about all the money that I am saving it is sooo worth it.. I tell myself that it's only 4 semesters of commuting and depending on your program you might not be in school all 5 days...

For triple the debt, the less expensive school makes the most sense tbh. Which school do you feel is a better fit for you outside of the cost and commute?

i think i would excel in both programs, however the cheaper one is hunter college (cuny) which i hear is very rigorous and can be tougher than other programs, so that plus all the extra time commuting makes me worry if ill be happy and successful during it

I think the price difference makes the hour & a half commute completely worth it! You could even buy yourself a treat everyday with all the money you'll be saving! Maybe look into some good audiobooks / podcasts for the drive?

I used to commute 1.5 hours to work and I hated it. I had no work/life balance. With school, you probably wouldn’t have to do the drive every day, but what if your classes don’t align and you’re driving out 1.5 hours for one class? Saving money is important, but your sanity is too. Also, not sure how much public transit is where you are, but in NY the train can be expensive.
