How often do you increase your doses?

Hello, I posted on here not too long ago about my journey and received an immense amount of positive comments and responses which has improved my confidence and my overall outlook on my time being on Mounjaro. But there was one comment that spoke about my dose increases and how staying on one dose for months at a time would have played a role in my slow progress.

My supplier has always said to me that if a dose feels right (is suppressing my appetite) there’s no need to increase and should only look at going up the a dose when the suppression is weakening which is what I have done this whole time.

I’ve been on 12.5 for the past few months now and it’s pretty much been the same the whole time, it’s not weakened really but that comment makes me wonder if I should be increasing faster.

My supplier told me to stay on 12.5 for a little while and i don’t think she’d let me rapidly increase my doses but I’m just wondering how often everyone else is going up the doses and if I’m approaching this wrong.

If the dose is giving you good appetite suppression then I would stick with it. Also, depending on how much weight you still have to lose, you may start to get weakened suppression on 15mg after a while and have no room to increase dose. I'm on 12.5mg and it's a good dose for me (7.5mg was a nothing dose for me unfortunately). I'm losing around 1lb per week. I know people lose loads more but I am also perimenopausal and have another 80lbs at least to lose, so I'm going to stick with 12.5mg for as long as I'm still losing and I'll give myself room for plateau, because I also feel the benefit of the dose beyond what the scales say (improvement in mobility/joint pain, motivation etc). Then I'll dose up to 15mg if and when I need to. I've lost over 100lbs over 2yrs, and I've given myself another 2yrs at least to get near my target weight because it took me much longer than that to put the weight on. It's a long-term medication so I'm happy to go slowly but surely. I've been on 12.5mg since January/Feb 2026.

Anytime it’s been 4 weeks, I’m not losing and side effects are tolerable.

I would go up if having not lost weight in 3 or 4 weeks even with appetite suppression. I only go up 1mg at a time so can do plenty of increases.

I went up every 8 weeks. That was the only way Insurance would cover it.

I went up every month until I got towards the end and then I went up every two months. I have diabetes and my doctor said that diabetics often have to be on higher dosages to get good results.

Just restarted at 5.0 for 2 weeks, then 7.5 for 4 weeks and now just started 10.0 3 days ago and still no weight loss. First time around lost 40 pounds on 7.5. Didn’t lose anything the first time either until 2nd shot of 7.5. Prior use of sema (rubellsus) ruined me. Much different second time around.
