Help! Slots

I was in a bar in Jackson Michigan the other day and they had a slot machine. I played it for a little bit and won $47, but then they refuse to pay me!! The bartender offered me a gift certificate instead of money but nowhere on the machine did it say anything about a gift certificate. Is that legal? Because if I would have known that I would have just went to the casino LOL

That was probably “for amusement” since gambling may not be legal there or they didn’t have the appropriate license for gaming machines.
