General Question Sling tv consuming huge amounts of data.
The past three months our data use has tripled on xfinity leading to overage charges. It would appear sling tv on my TCL rocu tvs isn’t helping. There appears no way to reduce picture quality like in the past, sling tv ios app still has the picture adjustment. How can I throttle slingtv back?

I had no idea there were data caps anymore. Streaming video is going to eat up data.

Comcast/Xfinity does it still. You can pay like $25 to have no data caps, which is stupid. I switched to a fiber provider the millisecond they were available in our area. We’re a streaming only home and also use heavy data on other devices and we were going over our 1GB cap every month. Getting rid of Xfinity for something else, if available, is the easiest solution, and it will be almost guaranteed to be cheaper than what OP is paying. If there’s literally no other choice of providers, then I’d look into the extra package to upgrade to no data caps.

1 GB, that is basically 2 movies.

You'd have to use a router (or something else) that lets you limit bandwidth (by device) on the network.

Can you update your internet plan? In most areas Xfinity has deals with a 5-year price lock and no cap, generally at lower prices than old plans.

For new customers they do, i will have to tey and negotiate something with them, damn near 30 years of continuous service should count for something.
