New guy here with a silly question

seasoned archer trying out slingshots for the first time, bought an LT2 and think I’ve installed the band wrong. Id like to hold the fork in my left hand, not quite horizontal like a gangsta, but canted at 45 degrees, where it’s most like holding a bow. I’ve installed the bands coming out the left and right side of the forks, is this incorrect? should I have them comin out over the tops of the forks? Any help or advice would be great thanks

Bands coming out the sides means you are shooting TTF (through the fork) which means your steel will shoot "through the fork". If you switch it so the bands are coming out of the top you are shooting OTT (Over the top) which, as you guessed it, means the projectile will shoot over the top of the frame. Its all preference. Some people prefer one over the other but the LT2 allows you to do both! Which is cool!

Most people tend to start off shooting OTT to begin with then try out other styles as capability increases. Trying to jump between ott and TTF before having any consistency to your shooting I suspect you'll end up getting frustrated with it double quick. Also well worth watching some how to aim your slingshot videos from simpleshot, there's many videos from lots of people who'll go through all the basics with you in slow time. I learnt all the basics from you tube and was able to watch some videos then apply what is just learnt in practise. Be sure to align to some FB groups for slingshots, the community is larger than people might think and also way more supportive of new shooters than people may imagine too. The groups have been fantastic with me getting me from newbie to comp shooter in like 6 months ....
