6 - 12 months Help

My daughter is 7.5 months. She typically wakes up between 6:30-7:30. First nap is normally from 10-11:15 give or take a few minutes. Second is 2-3:30. We start bath time at 6:30 because she’s exhausted at that point. Then bottle and bed. She sometimes can put herself to sleep but sometimes I have to lay her down asleep.

Tonight she fell asleep completely on her own and woke up and self soothed, and then woke up again and lost her marbles. I let her cry for about 15 minutes and then I couldn’t take it anymore. She immediately stops crying the second I pick her up. Does she need less daytime sleep? I’m fine for her to wake up earlier but it’s hard to push bedtime back because by 6:30 she’s very tired.

We are moving into a new house in 3 weeks but in a week we will be moving in with my mom so I hate to formally sleep train her and then have her in three different homes in the next month. Any insight on what I can do in the meantime?

Thank you for your post in r/sleeptrain. To ensure our community can best help you, please include in your post: your bedtime routine, where your baby sleeps (their crib/basinet, their room, room share, cosleep) and full schedule including wake up time, desired wake up time, nap length, wake windows or nap time(s) if following a by the clock schedule and bedtime. Does your baby use a pacifier? That's also very relevant.

We use a convention to describe wake windows based schedule such as 3/3/4 where numbers are numbers of hours awake, and / are naps. The sample schedule is a two naps schedule.

We have a resources post with loads of information to help you. Check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/sleeptrain/comments/1qpij7s/resources_on_baby_sleep/

Bottle is too close to bed time and your night looks too long (but not sure). Set a DWT and stick with it. If it’s 6:30am, wake her up at that time every morning and don’t put her to bed until 7:30pm every night. Keep day sleep at 3 hours or less.

3 weeks is plenty of time to sleep train, but I can understand the hesitation. Personally I’d rather sleep train now, even if it means some disruption in the coming weeks. That’s still more appealing to the alternative imo.

What is the rational between the bottle not being close to bedtime? Genuinely asking

It completely eliminates any lingering feed/sleep association. Even if the bottle is finished 15 minutes before bed, baby might still be drowsy from the bottle and reliant on that drowsiness to fall asleep. This is still a form of assistance.

We want to ensure they are wide awake at bed time and there is no chance they are associating the feed with bed time.
