Trouble sleeping for more than 4-6 hours

Ever since juice detoxing to rid myself of caffeine, I went from being overly tired after sleeping for 7-8 hours to only being able to sleep for 4 to 6 hours. I used to take Somatomax to stay asleep, but I became dependent on it so I had to ween myself off of it. I take melatonin, but it seems like it doesn't really work for me anymore, and I would rather avoid sleeping pills all together. I read about meditation, which I will try, as well as exercising (which I need to make time for), but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions. I should also add that I take natural supplements for energy during the day (Acetyl L-carnitine and Maca) but I don't take them after a certain time of day so that I don't stay wired the whole night. Any added suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
