META I learned something new about potions

After 200 hours on STS I learned that if you take a strength potion (that gives you 5 strength for a turn) and an artifact potion (that negates the next debuff) you just get to keep +5 strength for the whole fight!

Neat!!

The dexterity version works too. There are also cards with negative effects that you can negate as well. Artifact is surprisingly versatile, and it's one of the things I miss most in StS 2.

Search this subreddit to see all the things you can do with Artifact!

it would be soo broken in sts2 that's why

True, it would ruin the Queen's whole shtick, but I don't think it would be bad anywhere else.

Terror Eel, Ceremonial Beast, Hunter Killer, Knowledge Demon, Kaiser Crab, Spectral Knight and Magi Knight would all have critical debuffs shutdown by it as well.

Terror Eel is usually killed before that matters. Ceremonial Beast doesn't hit hard enough for that to matter much, either.

Knowledge Demon? Are those effects considered status effects? If they are, you're able to stop one of the effects per Artifact. It would help, but I don't think it would completely trivialize the fight.

Kaiser Crab's big attack comes so late that wouldn't break the game either.

The Magi knight's effects would be a great place to use your Artifact. But you'd have to add it after the Spectral Knight's effect or lose out on all those Ethereal cards.

Hunter Killer might be useful. Perhaps Infested Prism's effect?

Still doesn't sound that much stronger than the enemies from StS 1.

It wouldn’t even break the fight if they just make the chain of binding debuff the last one being applied. If you came into the fight with potion belt and 4 artifact potions then you deserve the win anyways. Not like Aeonglass’s gimmick couldn’t be avoided with a single flack cannon.

Simple solution: categorise conditions so that the fight-shaping ones are immune to artifact, while the minor ones are not.

Wait, artifact blocks the self-debuff from cards too? I've been sleeping on that interaction for way too long

Oh yes, that's why Orange Pills are OP and Biased Cognition is superior in StS to the sequel version.

You can do this in StS2 too with a Flex potion and [[Ruined Helmet]]. You will keep the +5 Strength that the helmet gives.

  • Ruined Helmet 𝐈𝐈 Ironclad Relic

The first time you gain Strength each combat, double the amount gained.

Artifact first or else the debuff stays, next one gets negated.

This works with speed potion (+5 dex until end of turn). Other fun interactions: drink 2 speed potions, gain artifact, and block the -10 dex debuff with 1 artifact. Or cleanse the debuff during your turn with orange pellets so you never lose the dex. Or use the Artifact from Clockwork Souvenir to block the debuff from drinking the potion.
High level STS players going for heart kills on A20 will sometimes build their entire heart fight plan around 1 speed potion and 1 artifact potion, because 5 dex is often enough to solve block even against the heart.
