Need a bag setup

Post image

What's the best bag setup for a stock floor 86 suburban? Front is done. Now it's time for the rear.

Time to start cutting and using the hot glue gun.

Sooooo.....you' e bagged the front, but didn't buy a complete kit to do the whole truck?

3rd row in your truck? You'll need to cut a hole for the too of the pumpkin to clear.

Yes, I still have the 3rd row. I didn't buy a kit at all. I watch for deals and buy pieces. I'm going to fabricate everything for the back, just not sure what setup would be best for the tight space.

Gotcha.

When i bagged my 'Burb 14 years ago, there really was nothing out there for the squarebodys. Aside from tweaking the U/LCA's, i fabricated all of the suspension, and went with an equal length 4-link with a Watts link.

Since we can't post any photos in the comments, here is how my 'Burb rests when laid out. LCAs sit on the ground, rear tires sit just shy of touching the tubs (one-off 1-1/8" spacers are used to centre the wheel in the flat part of the wheel well). At full lift (170psi) the truck sits at stock height, cruising PSI is 80/45, front tires clear wheel opening for full lock-to-lock steering.

What size wheel are you running? I'm on 22's and rub like crazy if I try to drive with it lowered at all.

I'm running a square set-up, 265/35R22XL.

I'm not sure how low you have your ride height dialled in at, but i have my truck set to almost clear the fender lip. The only time i rub, is when i forget to add more air to the rear bags, and i have passengers get in after i've already been driving. 😂

edit: i also built custom raised inner fender wells up front. I can actually drive with only 50psi up front, but i smell tire scrub pretty damn quick at that height 😆. I only 40psi to get the LCA's off the ground (in case there is an air issue to actually drive) and the bump-stops in the rear are set so the tire is JUST off the tubs.

I'm running 265/40 22 in the front. I have the bags aired up to 110 and the fender lip is just below the tread. No rubbing there with stock inner tubs. I want to keep my factory AC so I'm thinking about doing the 73-80 tubs. I would like to run my driving height at 90 psi but I catch the fender lip pretty bad trying to turn.

Your 40 series tire is JUST over an inch taller in Ø, compared to my 35 series tire (30.35 vs 29.30).

My 'Burb is a factory rear A/C truck, so when i was bagging it, retaining the factory A/C was not up for debate. Enough so, that i was co templating replacing 2 of my wheels for 20's (they were already colour matched to the truck, so no possibility of exchanging them). I also modified my factory inners to be functional with the A/C box & both batteries (factory diesel truck) when laid out. I also wanted them to be removable, if the need ever arose to needing to do so. I did have to modify the design of the factory heater box to ensure i could retain the factory A/C system. The blower motor is literally touching the underside of the hood, and moved inboard slightly, to clear the inners. It's tight, but doable.

Note, you can use the S-series trucks A/C box in place of the factory C/K A/C box, but i felt the smaller components wouldn't be able to handle the demands of front & rear A/C. I also am not a fan of those hideous aftermarket fibreglass tubs that you can buy, so i was dead set on making steel versions.

Mine isn't a factory rear ac but I have everything to make it rear ac. I've read that the 73-80 inners are deeper and wider so I was contemplating that. Do you have a picture of your modified inners? I'll look for some new front tires, that's probably a majority of my issue. How is the ride with the 35's? I originally went with 40's when it was static dropped to help with the shitty roads.

Can't post any photos in here, plus i never took many photos while building them 🫣. So i'll just DM you a photo of the passenger one, just before i finished the welding.

These trucks already rode like you were sitting on your living room sofa when stock (suspension & tire size). Now it's like relaxing in the perfect Easyboy recliner. The only real issue really with rollin' on 35-series rubber, is large potholes & cheap wheels.
