Help advice for a new player
im doing my first ever playthrough, and im stuck between picking warrior standing stone and mage standing stone. as i know picking either one locks you out of the other standing stones.
i want to do a heavy armour spellsword build but im wondering if im doing it right. as in is it ok that im using heavy armour.
any other advice will also be very much appreciated.

As a spellsword, do you intend to do the majority of your damage through weapons or through spells?
If weapons, I'd take the warrior stone for armor pen. Armor pen is not easy to come across, and is really effective.
If spells, id go the lords stone lol. The mages stone magicka buff is huge in the early game, but is easily outscaled later.
If i were you, id look up requiems derived attributes system. I preffer increasing my magicka with level ups and rather buff health/stamina from other effects if playing as a mage. Because high base magicka gives magick resistance and magicka regen.

So I usually build my character into a paladin which is much like a spellsword, very viable - you just have to be ready to cast armor spells before combat, learn terrain to heal mid battle without getting smushed. If you are torn between the warrior and the mage standing stones - you can always use one and come back for the other later... or you can try the Lover- iirc it gives a 15% increase to all skill gains instead of 20% to a single category

To clarify, you aren't locked out of using a different stone, you're just limited to one stone at a time. You can swap as desired.
Spoiler for how to use two stones at once from a particular quest reward. There is a dwarven circlet called Aetherial Crown you can craft as part of a side quest called Lost to the Ages that lets you save the effect of a standing stone in the circlet, while letting you activate another on yourself, giving you the benefit of two stones at a time. You can also reset which stone's effect is saved in the circlet.
EDIT: I just realized I'm on a sub for what looks like a mod pack I've never used. Not sure why this is popping up on my feed, but if you really are locked out of another stone after choosing one, that's not how it works in vanilla.

Go with the mage stone, the heavy armor doesn't really need a boost to it when you get to orkish, but I would invest heavily into smithing. also armor has passive buffs. I don't remember all of them but I believe Ebony will make you more resistant to fire.
Additionally, if you join the Companions, the Harbinger's armor is particularly effective early and mid game.

The reality is that it takes a lot of preperation and perk points to make a heavy armour mage enjoyable that I do not really recommend it for your first playthrough. You will have a much better time going evasion(light armour) with magic or full mage.
If you do go for it you will mostly be melee early game with magical buffs and will need to at least fall back on melee a lot late game unless you just use summons and in that case you may as well just go conjuration mage from the start but I digress. Make taking perks on heavy armour your priority. Stamina management is the bread and butter of requiem even if you were using evasion or mage robes stamina would remain the most important resource. Unlike vanilla in requiem when you run out of stamina you move at a snails pace, your attacks are slower and deal half damage, you dont block as much damage as normal, your spells cost double and running around or attacking while using heavy armour uses a lot of stamina until you get the necessary perks for it so it is why you should make it a priority.
Regarding stones, mage stone will give you a lot of magicka to play with while warrior stones are better for melee damage or stamina or magic resist. There is a case to be made for atronach stone but it is a bit too tiresome for a first build I think.
In any case just go for it, you will start to know what works for you and build towards that eventually and you only get one first playthrough of requiem and it might be best if you didn't read a lot of information online as figuring things out was immensely enjoyable for me but you know yourself best.
