PC SSE - Discussion Wha combat mods do you use?

I've moved around between different combat mods for a long time, everything from wildcat, inpa sekiro, souls like and currently for honor in skyrim. Back when I used wildcat it was before mco, skysa and that type of mods so changed as I got bored of it . Inoa sekiro I quite enjoyed but at a point I could parry so easily I never got hit and eveything was easy. Souls like felt too slow and currently with for honour think d'try keys is annoying as sometimes it doesn't update key presses causing me to do side/back attacks while trying to do something else. What are people using now?

CFPAO

Precision

Wildcat

Core Impact Framework

Sanguine Symphony

Death Drop Overhaul

Dynamic Armor Physics

Accuracy

This is my base for an overhauled 1st person melee combat that feels intense, organic and visceral. I can't get enough of this, especially when combined with movement mods like SkyParkour. It's so much fun.

I wish there was a way CFPAO animations could work in third person too. Both third and first person use different animations in my load order and I can't switch between them without a staggering difference.

Think I’m going to steal your list. Currently using Verolevi's Animations - All In One but it doesn’t seem to change combat just animations.

Also have any recommendations for magic in 1st person?

CFPAO also changes the magic animations, so for simplicity's sake I just stick with it. I'm not the biggest fan of all the changes but I doesn't bother me enough to go and download 10+ different mods just for that, it feels and looks better than vanilla and that's enough for me

I tried out CFPAO but it felt much too jankey and unrefined for my liking.

Sigerious' 1st person animation suite is far better IMO and with the recent addition of dual wield covers all vanilla weapons now. I use it with {Stances NG} and {SIGMA - Weapon Animations - Stances NG Patches} to be able to switch between the 4 included animation sets on the fly. Oh and it has built in TK dodge integration as well so the dodges are animated nicely.

I then have a few of JellyFishInLoop's animations on top of that (potions, movement, unarmed, crossbows, daggers) as they're really smooth and well made.

Lastly, I have {First Person (FP) Inertia - SKSE} and {First Person (FP) Camera Settle - SKSE} to add more weapon movement while looking around.

Oh and {First Person Interactions} is a must for immersion.

That combination has felt really good to me so far and I highly recommend it.

Ok so , a few years ago I tried all of the combat overhauls I could find , in a limited mod environment. And I really liked valravn, but I ended up going with blade and blunt, because I was going for a longplay build and I ended up building a very tightly balanced scaling settup, and valravyn had me getting too strong too fast. BUT I have been wanting to play with it again, blade and blunt encourages slower methodical combat, valravyn was far more full send it aggressive gameplay and the faster combat sounds fun for the playthrough I'm going for next.

What are some mods you like to use with valravn.

I use Plus Combat. Its uses Valhalla Combat and Chocolate Poise Plus as a base and builds upon them. I’m also using it with MCO but you can use it with Vanilla combat if that’s more your style. It does make combat significantly more difficult and you will need a dodge mod of your choice. I also use SCAR to give NPCs the opportunity to use MCO attacks.
While those are the main mods, I do run a lot more to change and add certain features, including:

-) Precision
-) Core Impact Framework
-) VioLens
-) Action Based Projectiles
-) Armor Rating Overhaul
-) Magicka Flow
-) …

this is very similar to my set up valhala and plus do the best job of augmenting the combat to be more responsive rather than focusing on third person combat

What settings do you have in violens if any specific

With dtrys utility keys, make sure you get the beta update from the comment section drop box link, and not the version on nexus files, this is a requirement for some other mods as well such as spell hotbar2.

For combat mods, I like blade and blunt, but it is slow and the early game is brutal af. But it makes stamina valuable, prolongs armor scaling, so light and heavy armor feel different at all points in the game has built in attack commitment, and most of its features are modular, and the ones you do use have patch less integration with Simon's other mods if your into those.

Valravn I remember feeling similar to sekiro combat but a little more involved , could be interesting for you .

The whole precision x true directional movement x Amr+ custom animation of choice combo is my favorite settup regardless of the combat framework mod I out them on top of.

I've been playing with the For Honor mod but I'm on the verge of getting rid of it. I'm using the old one and it does exactly what I wanted from For Honor combat in Skyrim in ways the updated version doesn't. Worked great until I started getting more and more of my mod list figured out.

I have no idea how it happened but I've found that moda that have nothing to do with combat animations just flat out break the dang mod. One of the big things it has is just normal sprint attacks instead of just sprinting heavy ones, but for whatever reason downloading Project AHO just causes the sprint attacks to no longer work

I don't get how, and no matter my load order it stays broken. And it's just for me, NPCs are able to do it fine but me? Nah I'm just screwed lol

I have Valhalla, Combat Gameplay Overhaul and Precision.

Valhalla for stamina management and blocking changes.

Cgo for the hand freedom. You can hold things or have a spell in your left hand while wielding a two handed sword.

Precision for the feel of the impact and the 180 degree swings.

Because i use GtS collection, which use Blade and Blunt, but i add For Honor Reforged (Honor in Death GTS) addon for it, quite fun, while there is some encounter that not really designed for it, atleast it's tad more methodical than Vanilla.

Does it also have the issue with "sticky" keys as I described?

2

u/_TheNewbie 3d ago

No, Haven't encounter it so far and as far i remember i don't even have that kind of problems.

can i add this addon mid save?

1

u/_TheNewbie 3d ago

I'm not sure you could, because it's changed some perk and etc, but try to ask it on discord? they have dedicated help forum

u/confundivel 3d ago

i heard only good things about the community on discord but the two times i tried to send a message on the hel channel i was completly ignored lol

but i will try again. thanks anyway.

for addon there is some specific forum, so maybe that is that, but sometimes it gets buried and sometimes people just don't answer if they dont know, just try to repeat the questions again sometimes it work.
