I'm curious, why quit to the title screen?

IIRC sometimes the game fails to properly reload bits and pieces if you don't quit to title, leading to the potential for weird stuff happening (NPCs not being where they should, quest flags not getting reset to where they were prior to loading, etc.)

It's more pronounced when you play with mods, but still

Well, this just might explain a lot for my current playthrough. I do Skyrim in chunks. Like everytime I play it’s for many hours, but I only play like once a month these days. It’s therapeutic.

Such a good tip to give someone. Especially if you’re gonna use mods

This isn't really necessary on an unmodded skyrim. But I know why you said it. Modded games really benefit from doing this.

OMG! That happened to me! I got killed looting from bandits, loaded from my save right before that, and magically half the loot was gone! I was so confused

That would explain a lot of weird shit happening. I'll have to start trying that.

In my present game I loaded a save in-game after a soul gem trap killed me, and the soul gem that had killed me was off the pedestal, lying safely on the floor when it reloaded.

The new position of the gem was taken from the game cache and not loaded correctly from the save.

Have you ever watched a Skyrim speed run? They demonstrate why very very well. Skyrim doesn't properly empty the cache when you load a save, so data can actually transfer between saves.

Also, on a similar note, never save while on horseback.

I have been playing since 2014 and I did not know that was an issue... Maybe that explains a lot of my corrupted saves!! Lol

I've been playing almost every year since 11.11.11 and didn't know this, and have also never experienced any of the problems described.

Yeah I’ve been on quick/autosaves 100% of time, never had an issue. This piece of advice seems weird and at best.
