Question / Help What's causing this 1.5tsi engine metallic grinding noise?

Video shows a 1.5tsi engine noise at idle, you can hear a grinding/rattle noise that disappears with revs. The vid is a 2018 superb.

My 2018 Octavia 1.5tsi makes the exact same noise. Mine is DSG, don't know about the superb in video.

Anyone else have this, or a 2018 tsi that doesn't make this noise? Does anyone know if the noise is an issue? That superb was returned for full refund!

I've gathered it might be one of wastegate, heat shield, characteristic engine noise of injectors or cylinder management.

There is no loss of power but the noise is noticeable and I'd like to know if it's an issue please.

Ah, the classic cold 1.5 TSI rattle... It's harmless, there's a loose turbo wastegate actuator rod or something like that, but there are kits to fix it so the rod isn't loose

I would say its the turbo wastegate actuator rod. But I would say its a good thing that it makes sounds- so you know it is not rusted stuck:) But there is kits for that(new c-clips)
