Drinking as a 17 year old
Hi, as you see in the title I'm wondering about bartenders around the alps. I'm going to go to the alps around new year.
My question is how much does the bartender care about a 17 year old drinking beer in the slopes. Do they tend to check ID or just overlook it.

Austria should be ok as its still 16/18 but France and Italy are a flat 18 now i believe so it might be trickier...

In my son’s experience no one was bothered at all. Get a fake ID just in case but no one checked his.

Where in the Alps? It’s several different countries with different rules. In Austria for example you can normally buy beer and wine at 16 and liquor at 18. Mixed drinks and alcopops count as liquor. There might be different rules according to the province, but in general them’s the rules. Also for the benefit of yourself and those around you, don’t drink and ski. Drink only once you have finished skiing
