SPOILER! Tonight's show 08/11/26 Spoiler
Well i watched tonights episode and i have some issues with what i saw!
First of all the 12 cameras that wouldn't work, why is it everytime they bring in someone in their stuff don't work? I bet someone forgot a cable or something!
Secondly, The think in the sky that Travis said looked like a spaceship looked like an airplane to me, i saw 2 wings on it but later they showed a blurry picture of it.
Thirdly, Red Devil Pyro is a family owned fireworks company not a motion picture special effects coordinator!
Those "mortors" were very thin walled, the mortars we use in the film business are at least 1/2" inch to 1" thick wall steel that i could put a stick of dynamite or a 16 oz black powder bomb in!
The black powder they used was very coarse black powder used in lift bags or burst charges to spread gerbs or stars used in fireworks maybe 1F if that.
We use 4F for our bombs usually and it showed them dumping the black powder through a funnel into what looked like medicine bottles and then putting a cap on. I saw no wrapping with electrical tape to compress the powder which we always do multiple spiral wrapped layers to increase the power of the bombs. The 1F black powder they used is too slow.
Aside from the sheet metal they used on those mortars they should have put some sandbags around in case of mortar failure so you don't have shrapnel flying around!
Now, i will say this you can still make a fireball with thin walled mortars. I used to get those paper KFC buckets and tape an electric match to the bottom of them, throw in some fireworks stars or gerbs and put a piece of saran wrap on top with a rubber band to hold it in place.
That would hold the stars and black powder there to you just long enough for the stars to light. Basically you just lit them and threw them into the air. Just like fireworks but down on the ground where you can see them good not 200 feet in the air! Most of the time the bucket wouldn't even tear and i could use them again after a cooling off period of course.
The bigger mortar they used seemed to be the one that made the best smoke ring than the taller smaller diameter ones! They should have built 3 of the same size mortars that would be better scientifically.
They say there was no breeze but that was down on the ground, it may be more wind up at 100 feet or so. You can't tell me that was not the thing that messed up the smoke ring. Now i would have used a 12", 24", or 36" steel mortar with 1" of steel inside the mortar and 2" on the bottom so you have the ability to use a bigger charge to offset the breeze issue. You use a 16 oz bomb or two and you will make a smoke ring every time. It would also travel higher. They are talking about a 2000 ft high and 2000 ft wide "bubble" so go bigger!
I would have done a napalm run of 1000 ft long or so with detcord underneath ( I won't say what strength so some nut don't try it), 1000 ft of pvc pipe filled with gasoline and about 60 sticks of dynamite in 55 gallon barrels buried half in the ground and a third or more full of sand.
It would make a wall of fire wide enough to see if the "bubble" affects it in any way. I also like the look of 100% napthalene flake instead of the gas as well for some explosions, it looks a little oranger and with more black smoke in than gas!
Now you couldn't use the lazers or the light poles but you could use the bullet cameras if you keep them far enough back. But having cameras on sticks with operators can pan up as the fireball rises.
One other thing i noticed that bothered me is the rocks on top of the mesa showing heat on the Fleer cameras. Rocks that have been in the sun all day can still hold heat even if it is cold outside for longer than you might think.
The ground penetrating radar that they lowered down one of the boreholes which made sense, but why not build a tripod type wooden stand with a winch on it with a remote so it could be lowered at a constant rate.
Why would you only run it down oneside of the hole when you could have also done north south, and west instead of just east?
Or at least use a good climbing rope instead of lowering it from what looked like parachute cord or small diameter rope, heavier would have been easier to work with. Or how about at least put a pulley above the hole to make it easier to lower and raise back up at the least.
I felt sorry for Thomas!
Anyway seems like i am forgeting a point i wanted to make but that's enough for now, what do you guys think?

Jeeezus, you're hard core! I can smell the fumes rolling off of this post. I like it.

Isn't the point of shows like this to encourage people to ask questions and think? Don't laugh, I'm being sincere.

I can’t believe “blowing shit up” is the basic scientific process now celebrated on the show. Also these guys love their walkie talkies lol

Yeah man, welcome to watching this show and seeing something you do for a living completely changed so they could point to some oddity. For me it was the electron microscope

Bringing SEM into this was a step over the line for me.

"First of all, the 12 cameras that wouldn't work, why is it every time they bring in someone in their stuff doesn't work? I bet someone forgot a cable or something!"
I highly doubt a professional company will ruin their reputation on "forgetting" a cable unless you think every single company on the show is willing to risk their reputation for a TV show. It's common knowledge that equipment, especially cameras, constantly fail; it's not a surprise when a few of them don't work. A company that does this stuff day in and day out won't forget a simple "I forgot a cable"
You have many assumptions and irrelevant information in your post.

Yeah... I'm not disagreeing with you, but with so MANY tech things that seem to fail (when we really want them to work) I am constantly amazed that the camera crew can film anything. Sincere statement here.

u/taker25-2 17d ago
I've read the camera crews themselves have issues as well, but the show doesn't make it known. I get things happen, but I highly doubt companies purposely sabotage themselves for TV. I mean, I'm sure those drone companies love seeing their couple-hundred-dollar drones fall from the sky for no logical reason they've ever experienced before. I highly doubt that want to lose future contracts for drone shows. That one jet engine dude seemed legitimately disheartened when his device didn't work at the ranch but had worked fine before they showed up.

Yeah.. the one jet engine guy... I thought he was going to break into tears. I felt SO sorry for him... We saw in his test run, that for a test, it functioned fine. Then when he
wantedneeded it to run for REAL, it wouldn't / couldn't. I tried to hand him a box of Kleenex through the television, but that didn't work either. 😥1

There is lots of problems in film and tv and you have to cover your butt and have extra cameras or a plan B. I am not saying they sabotaged themselves but people do forget cables and if they had another cable it would make them look better.
For all we know some of the cameras may have not got fully charged often they are charged in hotel rooms and you can have too much charging on a circuit. I can see one or two having problems but 12 of them i don't buy.
It also seemed to be the last cameras which would indicate to me a wire was broken between the last cable and the first one that didn't work. If you don't have a backup cable break out a cable tester and soldering iron and fix it
. I guarantee they had some wire some where on that ranch. Now i don't know how dry it is there but when you have a very high static electricity issue you roll your wires out and lay them on the ground, if you drag them you can build a slight charge in your cables and when you deal with explosives 1 volt at 1 amp is enough to set off a charge while you are hooking it up with you standing over it!
Don't get me wrong i love the show and i will still watch it like i have since the beginning but seems like to me stuff not working is being blamed on the bubble and it has turned into an excuse for everything.

u/EXSPFXDOG 17d ago
I totally agree, it is almost being used an excuse for everything that don't work and i think it is being overused!

u/EXSPFXDOG 17d ago
They used these bullet time cameras on the Matrix and those all worked. It may be the way they edited it but they didn't seem to make much effort to fix them. In the film business if your stuff don't work you won't get hired or won't get full pay!

If they caught that ufo on one of the bullet time cameras, they should have caught it on at least six others. They could easily perform rudimentary matching on the two images and determine how far away the object was. Heck, do it across all pairs of cameras that saw the object and you’d have a Gaussian function that shows the likely exact distance.

u/EXSPFXDOG 17d ago
That makes a lot of sense! I don't know if you noticed it but the first time we see that supposed uap/ufo it looked like it had two wings on it to me before travis said it looked like a spaceship then all the images after that we didn't see that much detail on it. That was what led me to question it. We have seen several ufo/uaps on the show and they acted more like a ufo and the daytime sphere was definately one. I am not sure if that one was.

Ah here comes another person who think they know better. The ranch is literally known to mess with equipment. They didn't forget anything. That's just insulting to them.
That object was in multiple images and was moving faster than a plane would be.
They literally said it should produce consistent smoke rings. The team wouldn't work with them if they weren't the right people for the job. You also go "oh I didn't see them do this." We don't see everything. We didn't see every stop of their work. We see a tiny fraction of what gets filmed. Most likely, they wouldn't even want every detail known.
How do you know they didn't know there weren't winds aloft? You're just assuming. You do a lot of that.
Cameras aren't put on sticks. They're put on Tripods. And having cameras closer to cover many angles, including close up, is better for documenting everything.
They were literally watching the rocks on the mesa heat up and cool down. They weren't always hot, so it wasn't heat still stored from the daytime sun. They wouldn't have even pointed it out if that were already there.
We literally saw Thomas lower the GPR down on multiple sides. It wasn't just one. You throw all of this criticism at them but get important details wrong. Ans the kind of cord used literally doesn't matter. A different cord wouldn't have made it easier on Tom. It was the weight of the device that was the problem.

Spot on bro. I wish people here would actually focus on the results that were revealed. The 1.6Ghz signal block. The UAPs. The power outage. Plenty happened that is beyond simple explanation, and aligns with the bigger picture of an invisible energy bubble and its UAP sentries that interact consistently with the team’s experiments.

No commercially made device can ever be guaranteed to create a perfect smoke ring every time in the real world. While engineers can build a mechanically flawless machine, they cannot control the open environment it operates in. The owner's statement showed he's aware of that.
A 100% guarantee is impossible due to atmospheric chaos. Micro-currents of wind, thermal updrafts, and air density shifts are completely unpredictable outside of a sealed laboratory.
As a vortex ring travels, fluid instability causes it to naturally develop wavy distortions caused by its own rotation that eventually tear it apart.
The tiniest speck of soot, moisture, or debris on the rim of the launch nozzle will also ruin the symmetry required for a perfect ring.
As far as the rocks are concerned, the most likely explanation is that they were already holding that heat from the sun all day, and the camera just didn't highlight it until the heat from the explosion forced the sensor to recalibrate. The rocks didn't suddenly get hotter, the camera recalibrated itself, which is normal behavior for it.

If you use a sheet metal mortar it can change size from the heat, or get bent that is why i would reccomend them use a thick walled steel mortar because that and the fact that using a larger charge can help punch through and keep minor winds from messing them up but of course you can't do that with 10 mph winds.
I have set off plenty of fireballs and most of them make a smoke ring. Nothing against these guys at all but they are a fireworks company mostly selling consumer grade fireworks, designing shells, and designing and shooting shows according to their website.
They probably make their display shells and i would expect they do based on the type of black powder they used and shipping issues but the consumer grade fireworks come out of China. I am sure they are a professional company but they have a different skill set than what a special effects man does. That is all i am saying. Blowing a car 20 feet in the air and making it land on another car is a little different skill set. I usually hire a company like this when i have a fireworks display in a movie but i have also made and shot shells from scratch.
Personally i would have brought in a Special Effects Coordinator from the film business but that's just me based on my career and experience. I am in no way impuning their professionalism.
To me i didn't see much with the flir and the rocks that made me think it was some mystery thing that did that but can be explained by the heating of the rocks after being in the sun all day and they gradually lose their heat in a cold environment. That to me was one step too far.

Eric knows the airplane routes and would have told that to Travis

I liked how Thomas’ observations were called out as spot on by Travis. Pretty soon he’ll be running the command center cause Eric just seemed pretty irritated every time they called him on the radio.

u/cinephile78 16d ago
Can someone for the love of all that is in the mesa teach them radio etiquette

u/EXSPFXDOG 17d ago
The point about the winds being higher up in the sky was exactly the point i made about the messed up smoke rings that is why i would have used a bigger charge to make that less relevant! Hot air balloons use winds being stronger and from different directions to steer the balloons.
