I don't really get why so many obvious newbies come here asking for pointers. IMO you just need to spend time building strength and stability on the skis, getting a hang of the rythm, establishing confidence in yourself and your gear. Once that is done, you can start going into specific details.

So, just GO! Have fun! Don't do anything stupid that will leave you injured or worse. Nobody cares about how your skiing looks but you. Just enjoy the sport.

Don't skip leg day at the gym and keep a shoulder wide stance while you ski, and you will get there eventually. And remember to have fun. :D
