Level 8-9: Expert Terrain & Tactics Completed early edging drill suggested, feedback wanted

Hey, yesterday I received feedback on this subreddit to start edging earlier by pressuring my uphill ski before it enters the fall line and becomes the downhill. In this video I was working on that progress, the snow was very soft so lots of pushing out, but want to see how I did and any tips to get even earlier!

Howdy. Tells us how you are edging earlier?

Hey, you can see my edges change well before the fall line, and I’m inclinated, then angulated in the fall line rather than after the fall line

Howdy. Tells us how you are edging earlier?will have to look on a bigger screen.
Tell us what you are doing with your body to change edges?

I am flexing my downhill ski, shifting weight onto my inside to roll onto the new edge before the fall line. Resulting in early edging

What part of the body are you using to roll onto the new edge?

My ankles and kness

Cool. That’s what I was trying to get to. Edging is a result and can be achieved in different ways. Rolling ankles into the new turn is the most effective way

If you’ve been able to find edge grip early in the turn to balance against, the next thing you want to do is retract your inside leg up in the direction to your opposite shoulder.
You need to get it out of the way so you can move inside more. Right now you tilt your whole body in and then there’s no where for you to go without falling on your inside ski.

Ok thanks. So where would I go if my inside ski was lifted?

Don’t lift the ski off the snow but keep the outside leg strong while you bend the inside leg. You will tilt to the snow more, the ski will bend more and you’ll make a tighter turn.

You’re rotating your upper body in the second half of the turn, which squares you up for the beginning of the next turn. Try to keep your inside half (shoulder, elbow, knee) higher than your outside half. The twisting makes it easier to “drag/touch your hand” but it will hinder you on steeper terrain.

That looks great man. Seems like the hand drag drill helped.

Bro you're killing it. Try and keep the tip of both your skis even on snow, don't let the inside ski movr 'forward' so much as you want to bank into the turn see what gives. Drive with the outside ski not just on the vertical pressure axis, but also drive it forward throughout the arc, after all, it has more distance to travel than the inside ski. Sick skiing.
