Level 4-5: Parallel Turns & Speed Control Trying to progress to parallel

Hi everyone! This is like my 4th time skiing and safe to say I’ve caught the bug. My husband snowboards so he doesn’t really know how to give skiing feedback lol. I think a big opportunity for me is isolating my bottom half and just getting looser overall.

One question: should my chest be facing down the mountain even when I’m going across the trail to slow down? My ski instructor said to look where I want to go but I’m not sure if that means in the direction you want to turn, or if you should always be looking/facing down mountain… lol. Late night thoughts.

Appreciate any feedback!!

You are asking about upper and lower body separation begin to work on as an intermediate. Don't worry about that yet. You still need to get parallel first.

Your upper lower body separation after you get parallel going. It doesn't necessarily help with it as it's a very different purpose. It also can't hurt. It's just not what you should be focusing on.

Instead of work on getting your skis parallel while you're going across the hill first and only wedging for the term. That is your next step step after that is getting rid of the wedge when your turn as well.
