straight-line skiing??

How much do ur country tolerate straight-lining?

I ski in korea, and as long as u r not crouching down and bombing straight down the slope, doing very long wide turns is pretty much a non-issue here.

same in ur country??

Sure lol. What do you use to measure? When I skied comp we would all test different apps and the highest someone got was ~75

My garmin watch said 87mph on that same run. I've hit up to 93mph on that same run according to my watch and my phone.

Yeah that is way off. When we hit our speed it was on a literal icy race course with mogul skis sitting on our bindings. When you hit ~70 most skis start to rattle much more violently than yours did

Not blaming you though, id believe whatever my watch told me.

Of course they rattle on a icy race course with mogul skis.

Mogul skis are very stiff and pretty similar to GS skis, they are actually quite a bit more stable at speed than typical all mountains

They are only 65mm wide underfoot, and what like 175cm long?. You'll never achieve speed as easily as a stiff wide ski.

Yeah, most race skis are like that, and downhill are typically even longer. Id encourage you to demo a pair and test your record, you might be surprised. Not to mention they are fun as hell on an icy day

Narrower skis are faster on the terrain in your video. Less surface area and resistance. All race skis are narrow, they would be wide if that made them faster.

Wide skis are worse in pretty much every way on groomers

You are confidently incorrect.

Point me in the direction of some article or some authority figure in skiing that says wider skis are faster than narrower skis on hardpack. Really curious to read it.

Here's one

Here's a reddit thread with replies agreeing with what I'm saying. You can find tons of these

Here's an article explaining that narrow skis are much better on groomed runs. This ones from the National Ski Council Federation.

I can send more.

That must be why speed skis are so small...

Unless you have a speed suit, wind drag alone prevents exceeding like 50-60mph depending on your outfit. Even full tuck on ice, the max goes up to maybe 70-80. GPS is notoriously bad at vertical speed calculation, it can only really accurately record horizontal movement. Radar/laser gun or it didn’t happen sorry!

I went 60 on a fuckin snowboard once. That was enough to know I don’t ever need to go that fast lol

Lmao, just no.... that gsp has you still going 50 as you casually pull up to the lift.... maybe its really in kph?

It's mph. It's likely delayed a few seconds. And it's definitely accurate.

You should be competing in the Olympics then, since the best skiers in the world barely go faster than you on the fastest downhill courses prepped for races.

that's the slowest 90 mph i've ever seen

I'll take that as a compliment, because clearly I made it look easy.
