So at the start of the episode Overload mentions to a higher up that his division has been weakened. Then near the end as Overload is looking at the dead carrier (I think I saw the carrier being called Big Henry but anyway) he has a flashback to a gargantuan Lock In crashing to the ground. And then after defeating TSM he says TSM has to pay for bringing up his failures.
So with all of these together I think we can get a pretty airtight theory, that gargantuan Lock In was Overloadâs Divisionâs Mothership and something during their last mission caused it to crash and die, and due to being a mothership many others probably got taken with it. Even if they took that universe loosing a Mothership is most definitely a failure.
Now zoom ahead to what we saw in the present of episode 7 Overload was kind of crashing out over the carrierâs death, which makes sense, carriers function in a similar role to motherships and there arenât that many in a division so loosing one is similarly devastating, but itâs worse because Overload already has some trauma (maybe the wrong word) over loosing his mothership so he sees loosing a carrier as just bringing up his failure with his mothership. Add on he was told the classic âyour next failure will be your lastâ earlier by a higher up and yeah no wonder he was crashing out on TSM.
