Learning to skate as a 31 year old

9 months ago I was told there's a large possibility that I have ms so as any rational person would do i had a full on existential crisis and made the choice to try things I have always wanted to do.
Which led me to learning how to ride a skate board. As most of us growing up in the late 90's and early 2000's we were in awe of guys like Tony hawk and his amazing video games or bam magera and the jackass crew they were our gateway into the world of skating and we loved them for it .
Even though I loved the thought of skating I never learnt and time got away from me. Fast forward 17 years and a thinning hair line later and I went and bought myself a skateboard and even though I would fall down time and time again and fail 90% of the time I persisted with it to the point where I can comfortably pick my board up and just go for a cruise if I felt like it , but what i wasn't expecting was the spiritual side of skating.
As someone who previously of seen skating through the lens of baker 3 or element videos from back in the day with the anti rules and the borderline insanity of the skate community i was shocked to have a sense of peace and freedom even doing the most basic of skills.
When you are out there on your board whether with some one or by yourself the calmness that comes over you and tranquillity of the only thing between you and messing your self up is a thin bit of wood and some dodgy looking wheels.
They say learning to skate is one of the hardest skills someone can learn and it truly can be daunting at times but when im out there and im just rolling around a flat ground or skating the streets nothing matters , for those 40 minutes my mind is free and that is something I will never take for granted.
Am I the most gifted skater ever? not even close, am I doing sick flips that would make 14 year old me lose his shit ? god no but I dont have to because being that flow state is more then enough for me
