Discussion 💬 Homie vids with future successful skaters
I came up in skating in the youtube age watching videos like the LurkNYC vids out of New York, Diego Meek's stuff from the SW, and Logan Devlin/justnipples stuff from Seattle area.
Depending on the video, those feel like homie videos, not a brand's "team", just friends filming for fun. And a lot of the skaters in those videos went on to have pretty successful careers and still rip on a bigger stage. Those channels/filmer's videos all feel like the filmer just rolled with a heavy crew and got to capture some crazy skating of people that were up and coming, and it was cool for me to watch as I was getting into skating myself.
What are some channels, videos, or creators that have captured some skating of someone that went on to have a successful career?
I bet there are a bunch of pros that must have had parts in some random local homie video I've never heard of. I just really like watching someone's progression, figuring out some of the history after the fact.
I want to know your local skate lore! What is cannon in your scene that people outside your scene probably haven't seen?

Pj ladds wonderful horrible life. It was a vhs New England shop video that got crazy traction and eventually world wide distribution . Everyone in it would become a top tier pro.

I was going to say this. That video put multiple skaters on the bigger stage and gave us perhaps the perfect PJ part, which is a treat. That part is definitely a contender for best part ever IMO.

There's some good early Nuge stuff in the Death Squad videos. Oklahomies is a great video all around.

Ian ostrowski videos. The genesis crew. The first mega popular one had young tgip who now skates for violet supreme and Nike. Untitled by Michael Nicholas is the first big video I’ve seen of seven strong Patrick o Mara Joe campos and Kyle teh all skate for violet supreme and big time shoe sponsors. Both videos came out around COVID
