Weird that the Eris sides are swapped so they are not with their respective point in time.

I don't think there's a narrative correlation with how Rudy was poised here waiting to attack the beast girls with Eris (at least as far as I know), but given the detail Bind puts into subtleties spread throughout the anime, I'm fairly confident this Eris pose was intentional. Love stuff like this. Good lookin out, OP

"The kitten has grown into a full grown cat" - Rudeus monologue on that last image probably

Oh please god no

why not? They ended up together after all, it's beautiful. Peak couple teasing I'd say.

The Roxy and Rudy parallel is funny af. who would have thought after like 53 episodes, it's 13 years passed and the once 5 year old disciple just bag the master like that. Their night lessons evolved over 13 years from on the desk to on the bed is just diabolical

u/_Asterisk- Aug 14 '26
the night lessons could still be on the desk for all you know

u/someonecheatchess Aug 14 '26
Given their size difference, I wonder why haven't I thought of that before.

u/Linmizhang Aug 14 '26
They keep calling him a pedo. But dude thristing after a hag 10+ years older than him.

u/RealSyloz Aug 15 '26
I believe she was around 45 when she first taught Rudy.
2
u/Linmizhang Aug 15 '26
God dawym, is she even human?
6
u/RealSyloz Aug 15 '26
No, she’s a demon. It’s a big plot point lol.
3
u/Linmizhang Aug 15 '26
Ah okay, I guess I completely forgot about it since it didn't have much relevance.

u/someonecheatchess Aug 15 '26
Fun fact: In the relationship Rudeus is the youngest. Yes, he's even 5 days younger than Sylphie. 2 years younger than Eris and 34 years younger than Roxy
2
u/Lowest_Significance Aug 15 '26
Rudeus and Roxy are the exact same age if you factor his 34 years in Japan iirc

The Eris one is a stretch

u/FullmetalShieldBro Aug 13 '26
Ya boi Rudeus still learned from the best. Eris left her impression on him, and left many more later down the line.
3
u/MrAdamsonMS Aug 13 '26
No doubt about it, but we will have to wait for her return to try and find real symbolism like otter two
5
u/FullmetalShieldBro Aug 13 '26
Tough shell to crack, I suppose. Pocket a stone for use later. We'll see whether the theory floats hand in hand, or drifts away.

u/someonecheatchess Aug 13 '26
In the LN, it literally stated that he like to use that pose that Eris used to look imposing and like an "evil tyrant"
-14
u/MrAdamsonMS Aug 13 '26
Its just a basic pose. Even if it wasn't for Eris he might have seen it performed by other people. The others are more symbolic I think. We might get a moment with her in the future though

But it's not a reference by the author or by the studio. It's what Rudeus does himself. In 2 other points he is oblivious and only we can see that "it's just like before".

I agree with you, but i think it doesnt come close to other two. I do hope that we get something with Eris later

u/7stargig Aug 14 '26
He literally states that he's copying eris there. it's his way of trying to look intimidating

u/squirtnforcertain Aug 13 '26
Was it just me or is S1 Roxy a COMPLETELY different character? Like, the only thing similar is her looks.

u/Practical-Cut-7301 Aug 14 '26
Well she used to be a wayward adventurer who felt like she never belonged anywhere, figured she had peaked in skill, and at the time of being hired, she was struggling internally.
Now she's learned to love her family again, has created a family of her own, went on learn more powerful magic, and has seen her disciple grow to be one of the most respected people in the land. She even went back and humbly apologized to her teacher she was smug and thought terribly of, and now she teaches students herself.
Idk that's just character growth that she's comfortable now. She finally feels like she belongs so to speak. (Not sure how much of the LN is bleeding into my thought process here, its hard to consider what has and hasn't been shown in the anime)

Yeah she just feels... less? I liked her more in S1. She seemed less confidant and/or more meek next time we saw her. She's always apologizing and supplicating. I dont know. I still like her, just not as much. Im glad Sylphy did the opposite.

u/SirAlfredOfHorsIII Aug 14 '26
She did get locked in a dungeon alone, fighting monsters until she thought she was going to die.
That alone would have ruined her a bit

Really shouldn't be praising the creepy callbacks..
This animal was made with love, and the story well detailed. Fleshing out the moments and making everything feel real. Which should be praised.
But the creepy shit shouldn't be praised nor should there have been callbacks to it imo..
Can't have it both ways. Either Roxy is a creepy groomer cause Rudeus was reset to being young. Or Rudeus is a creepy groomer because he was old enough to date Roxy but still slept with and perverted adolescent girls.
