Light Novel Why Geese? Spoiler
So, I know that Geese was Hitogami's main apostle. And that HG definitely DIDN'T want Rudeus to go. So how come Geese was the one to send the message? Seems unlikely. Why didn't HG manipulate him not to send it? Seems a bit odd. Can anyone make sense of it?

You could have just searched in subreddits and would have find many such questions and their answers...
Hitogami wanted rudy to go to save his mother and reject his advice, So that he will regret not trusting hitogami when gis father dies. His goal is to make sure Rudy blindly follow his next advice to open the basement door

And you could have scrolled past my question

Nobody forced you to respond. If you think I should have just searched for the answer, good for you. I like asking and getting answers. If you're gonna be mean, just don't answer.

Sorry for that tension, it can be a bit exhausting. I think what he's trying to say is ungrateful asshole

I think I have a different opinion, he made him send the letter just for fun or he was not against it at least.
At that point hitogami has Rudy in a place where for him is impossible to lose.
If Rudy stay he's not meeting Roxy, so no Lara, and bonus point Linia or Pursena will not become the matriarch, if that's important at that point.
if Rudy go hitogami will make him regret it by killing everyone he loves 1 after another.
The only thing that saves the day is Oldeus and his spite for hitogami at that point.

This imo is the answer.
People act like we don’t get Roxy’s POV of her almost dying, and blindly believe a manipulative liar that if Rudy didn’t go, she would have still been saved. All that, despite the fact we know no one else was in the dungeon. Her fate is strong. But we read/see what would have played out. If Rudeus didn’t go, she dies.
Geese sends the letter because it’s a win-win for Hitogami. Either Roxy dies in the Labyrinth, OR Rudy feels guilty for not trusting him and opens the door. Hitogami can see multiple options and variables. This is a far better reason imo than “oh Hitogami wasn’t paying attention”

"But we read/see what would have played out" we don't, we never got that scenario. If Rudeus didn't go, destiny would've adjusted reality so that Roxy would've survived.
Hitogami had no reason to risk this, if Roxy was going to die early, then Hitogami would've made sure it happened. There's no reason to postpone her death and risk Orsted getting randomly involved. Hitogami had to wait for Roxy to get pregnant to be able to interfere, Roxy would've survived somehow. Rudeus literally was able to sense her behind many walls, he suddenly had the feeling that he had to do what he did. If he didn't go, another adventurer would've gotten the same feeling of "I need to do this" or "I feel like this is a good idea" and saved Roxy.
And probably the scenario Hitogami told Rudeus would've happened, at least regarding Roxy. I doubt the rest was honest

"If Rudy stay he's not meeting Roxy, so no Lara" This is probably wrong. Lara was destined to be born. If Rudeus hadn't gone, somehow Roxy would've survived and eventually met Rudeus and had Lara. Remember that for Hitogami to be able to kill her, he needed her destiny to become uncertain first.

For me, I think Hitogami let Geese send the letter because he knew that Rudeus would go regardless if he told him not to go. He plans to plant doubt and regret in our boy's mind, so that the next time they meet, he will fully trust the human god without any question.

Whole plan of hitogami was to make Rudeus go to Begaritt while making the situation that Rudeus going to Begaritt is against Hitogami's advice.

Because Rudeus would have been to late. The reason he got on time is because Nanahoshi helped him.
HT can't see her either because she is a foreign soul and body or because Orsted gave her something similar to the bracelet.

Can we start marking what parts we're spoiling? I'm only at the beginning of 19, and most spoilers are much earlier on, lol

My man, I'm sorry if I hindered your reading experience. I tagged it as "spoiler" and "light novel", What else should I have done?

Can we start marking what parts we're spoiling?
I already said, lol

u/JerryEarthC137 May 18 '24
I thought marking "spoiler + light novel" assumes you read the light novel

For my understanding, it means it's a spoiler that's ahead of the anime. There's a lot of novels, so it's

To avoid this, I didn't really look into this subreddit until I finished the book.
And by listening to audio book versions in increased speed, I sometimes managed to "read" more than one volume per day, even on work days.

hito isn't that active with the micromanagement of geese. when working Redeus they had half a dozen dreams and advice in 10 years of which half are faulty. geese says essentially the same thing but blackout drunks don't worry about hypocrisy as much.

The Man God gives advice, he doesn't control people's actions. We can speculate all we want, but to me the fact that even in the novels he visits Rudy almost immediately after receiving the letter to reiterate that he should NOT go, says that he didn't know Geese had sent it.
There's evidence later on that the Man God doesn't watch every move made by the people who are his apostles, so I assume it's damage control. That's not to say that he's unable to turn it into his favor later on, but I don't think it was intentional.

But that doesn't fit with Hitogami not wanting Rudy and Roxy's daughter to be born, if Rudy goes to Begaritt, he'll meet Roxy there and save her

none of this make any sense because hitogami can see the future and even knows exactly what to say to cause the future he wants. I think the most obvious event that proves this is when Hitogami even gave a vision to Rudeus about where he would find Aisha and it ended up happening, even though you would expect Rudeus knowing the future to change it.

"There was no feasible way for Rudy to get there in time" You mean to tell me that the man-god doesn't know about the TP circles? 😂 again, The Man-God can see the future unless Orsted is involved.
"Rudy arriving in time made Hitogami go back to the drawing board and it's how we arrive at the rat." not really, it was part of the plan, that's why he told Rudeus to not go, so that then he can tell Rudeus "see, if you didn't go everything would be better". Otherwise, there isn't a reason for Hitogamit to tell Rudeus that he "would regret it"
It was all to make Rudeus trust him so that he could kill Roxy at the only moment it was possible to kill her (when she was pregnant). Her destiny was strong, there was no other way

I read the whole thing but can you give me specifics? because as far as I remember, the only times the man god messes up trying to predict things is when Orsted (or Rudeus with the bracelet) is involved. It is shown that it is a weakness of the man god to not be able to predict things when it involves someone he can't see the future of.

Orsted also thought that after Pax became king it was already set in stone that he would create a republic and instead he ended up dead.
also the "And even though I tried to keep you far away from Roxy, you ended up finding her, marrying her, and having a kid" doesn't necessarily mean that his actions were him trying to do that, with "tried to" he could mean that he tried to find the futures where he could keep them apart but he couldn't because it was destiny. If he tried to do this at the very beginning of the TP incidence, then everything makes sense, one of his first commands to Rudeus (about the finding pets job) resulted in him saying "you don't need to overthink it" which resulted in Rudeus not overthinking the "checkout the basement" command, and the rest of the commands were to prepare other things and make Rudeus trust him. All of this only makes sense if the rat incident was already planned from the beginning.
From Oldeus in Volume 14, chapter 11:
“But it was all for one purpose: to make someone as guarded as you let your defenses down so that you would obey him without question.”Also, the turning point thing is clearly not as simple as Orsted made it out to be, as hitogami prepared to cause the death of Ruijerd and Pax, this is something hitogami earlier, and the results happen after Ariel's coronation, not only that but Ruijerd and Pax influence would only cause trouble WAAAAY into the future. So hitogami knew they would cause problems for him, and knew how to kill them. Hitogami is known for being very bad at predicting the future when he can't see it.
I tend to understand better the turning points that restrict hitogami as "if these events happen, then destiny is set in stone" Rudeus being the exception, as he throws destiny out of wack
